FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Oversee the implementation, maintenance, and optimization of IT systems for both office and vessels, ensuring they meet operational needs.
2. Manage network infrastructure, including onboard communication systems, ensuring reliability and performance.
3. Develop and enforce security protocols to protect sensitive data related to vessel operations and company information.
4. Conduct regular security assessments and audits to identify vulnerabilities and ensure compliance with industry regulations.
5. Provide technical support for both office staff and vessel crews, addressing IT issues promptly to minimize operational disruptions.
6. Implement remote support solutions for vessels to facilitate quick resolution of technical problems.
7. Lead IT projects related to software implementation, system upgrades, and technology integration across the fleet.
8. Coordinate with various departments to align IT initiatives with business objectives and operational requirements.
9. Manage the IT team by recruiting, training, and mentoring staff to enhance their skills and performance.
10. Foster a collaborative environment that encourages innovation and continuous improvement in IT practices.
11.Prepare and manage the IT budget, ensuring cost-effective solutions are implemented while meeting operational needs.
12.Monitor expenditures related to IT projects and equipment purchases, ensuring adherence to budgetary constraints.
13. Develop training programs for staff on new technologies, software applications, and best practices in IT security.
14. Ensure that all employees are equipped with the necessary skills to utilize technology effectively in their roles.
15. Maintain accurate records of IT systems, policies, procedures, and incident reports.
16. Prepare regular reports on IT performance metrics, project status updates, and security audits for senior management review.
Qualifications:
1. A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is required; a master’s degree is preferred.
2. A minimum of 5-10 years of experience in IT management or a similar role is essential.
3. Experience in the maritime or shipping industry is highly desirable but not mandatory.
4. Strong knowledge of network administration, data security practices, and enterprise software systems relevant to shipping operations (e.g., ERP systems).
5.Proficiency in troubleshooting hardware/software issues both onshore and onboard vessels.
6. Proven experience managing teams effectively with strong interpersonal skills to foster collaboration.
7. Ability to lead projects from conception through execution while managing resources efficiently.
8. Excellent problem-solving skills with a strategic mindset to identify technology needs and opportunities for improvement.
9. Capability to conduct risk assessments related to data security and operational efficiency.
10. Strong verbal and written communication skills to convey technical information clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
