Our Knowsley intermediate care bed-based team is seeking a committed Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join our service, supporting the patients through shared care within their localities. We are seeking a highly skilled, enthusiastic, and proactive therapist to join our team. The service responds to the rehabilitation needs of adults 18+, who have multiple complex co-morbidities. Services are provided within bed-based units and patient's own homes. In addition to bed-based services, the team provide urgent care therapy response to prevent a hospital admission with an MDT approach where it is safe to do so.

We are looking to recruit a sonographer to join our team at Mersey & West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (St Helens & Knowsley sites). Applicants must hold a recognised ultrasound qualification (PgCert, PgDip or DMU), and be eligible to work in the United Kingdom.



A wide range of obstetric and non-obstetric examinations are undertaken across two hospital sites (Whiston Hospital and St Helens Hospital).We also provide ultrasound services at four community sites (St Helens Millennium Centre, Newton Community Hospital, Widnes Urgent Care Centre, and St Helens Lowe House). We act as a clinical placement site for the University of Cumbria’s Direct Access MSc Ultrasound programme and there are opportunities to engage in the training and mentorship of student sonographers.



Mersey & West Lancashire Trust fully supports role extension and we have sonographers undertaking HyCoSy examinations, ultrasound guided joint injections and breast interventional procedures.The department also undertakes seven-day working and the successful candidate will be expected to undertake evening and weekend duties.

KEY DUTIES
• Perform obstetric, gynaecological, abdominal, vascular and small parts Ultrasound examinations.
• Report all Ultrasound examinations by clinically interpreting images and providing a written report in accordance with the scheme of work and departmental protocols.

We are looking to appoint a highly motivated, innovative and enthusiastic Senior Pharmacy Technician (Clinical Services).

Your role will involve working with the Chief Pharmacy Technician (Clinical Services) to manage and develop our technical ward services team.

KEY DUTIES
• To work under the supervision of the Chief Pharmacy Technician Clinical Services to manage the operational provision of pharmacy services to wards and provide cover in their absence.

• To work with the Chief Pharmacy Technician Clinical Services to performance manage band 5 pharmacy technicians and other staff allocated to ward services within the department including:

- The recruitment and selection process of pharmacy technicians and assistants

CLINICAL & PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
• To perform final accuracy checking on prescriptions and inpatient requisitions which have been clinically verified by a pharmacist in accordance with Trust procedures and ensure dispensing errors are corrected by the appropriate member of staff.
• Labelling and dispensing of medication as required including the accurate input of data into the pharmacy JAC computer system, extemporaneous dispensing, and blister packs.
• To provide a specialist clinical technical service to a designated ward, in accordance with professional, departmental and Trust policies. This will include:

- the taking of a comprehensive medication history for new patients as soon as possible after admission using multiple sources of information

- Close liaison with external organisations e.g. nursing homes/community pharmacies, other hospitals, and GP practices

- Assessment of patients own drugs for reuse.

- Accurately transcribe medicines from EPMA to ICE discharge identifying any discrepancies to the ward doctor and ward pharmacist

- Processing of TTO’s at ward level in a timely manner to maintain patient flows in the Trust.

- Ordering medication in a timely manner to avoid missed doses, particularly of critical medicines.

- Monitoring for adverse drug reactions and submit ‘yellow cards’ to the CSM where appropriate.

- Counselling and educating patients on how to correctly take their medicines including advice on side effects and appropriate storage.

- Identify unintentional nonadherence to medicines and intervene where appropriate.

- Follow up patients to ensure interventions put in place have been successful.

- Monitoring for adverse drug reactions and submit ‘yellow cards’ to the CSM where appropriate.
