The successful candidate will become part of our rotational program, which covers specialty areas of acute stroke, specialist medicine, care of the elderly, orthopaedics and hand therapy surgery and community.

There will be an expectation to work one weekend day in every 6 weeks.

You will work collaboratively with other members of the multidisciplinary team, including our community partners, to provide a holistic, patient-centered occupational therapy service that empowers patient’s to achieve their goals.

You will provide comprehensive occupational therapy assessment and intervention to a wide variety of patients in line with current evidence-based practice, national and local policies, and within the scope of professional standards of practice.

There is also an opportunity to contribute to the development and evaluation of the occupational therapy service which is continually evolving in line with local and national proposals, such as the NHS Five Year Forward Plan.

Fixed-term Band 5 Physiotherapist (6-months)

We are looking for an enthusiastic Chartered Physiotherapist to join our dynamic team . The post holder will undertake work within our inpatient physiotherapy teams as a Band 5 Physiotherapist assisting flow through the acute Trust.

We are a very friendly, supportive team who encourage newly qualified physios or band 5 applicants who are looking to further expand their knowledge and skills. We actively encourage in-service training and recognise the value of supervision and appraisal.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/OUTCOMES:

Clinical
1. To be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of own work, including the management of patients in your care.
2. To undertake a comprehensive assessment of patients such as those with presentations of medical and respiratory pathologies, orthopaedic and musculoskeletal conditions, paediatric patients, amputees, head injuries and stroke patients.
3. Formulate and deliver a Physiotherapy treatment programme based on sound knowledge of evidence based practice and treatment options. Using clinical assessment, reasoning skills and knowledge of treatment skills
4. Assess patient understanding of treatment, gain valid consent and have the capacity to work within a legal framework with patients who lack capacity to consent to treatment
5. Evaluate patient progress, re-asses and alter treatment programmes as appropriate
6. Represent Physiotherapy service and/or individual patients at the multi-disciplinary team meetings to ensure the delivery of a co-ordinated multi-disciplinary service and integrate Physiotherapy treatment in to the treatment programme. This will include discussion of patient care, patient progress and involvement of discharge planning.
