Practice Overview:
Ankura’s Disputes & Economics group is the preeminent provider of forensic accounting and expert testimony services for multi-billion-dollar disputes between large multinational corporations and the Internal Revenue Service. The group is lead by experts that have testified in the largest transfer pricing matters in the United States and the team prides itself on combining its acumen in accounting, finance and massive data analysis with the intellectual curiosity of applying sophisticated database techniques to solve novel and complex challenges.
Each project is a collaborative combination of team members who focus not only on complex problem solving but promoting a supportive environment full of challenging tasks and learning opportunities. Most projects begin with a blank slate after which the team designs creative and efficient approaches depending upon the specific facts and circumstances. In all cases, team members are encouraged to combine their academic skills and outside experience with financial modeling and data analytics tools.
The group’s clients are multi-billion-dollar multinationals that have a passion for defending their international growth strategies and the projects last from one year to three years in length. Team members routinely interact with client personnel in accounting, financial reporting, treasury, legal and information technology departments as well as outside attorneys.
This role will be located in Chicago and on a hybrid schedule.
Responsibilities:
Working as part of a project team, perform critical, value-added work developing solutions to help clients resolve complex disputes. Responsibilities may include developing financial and accounting analyses, utilizing business intelligence tools, conducting research, preparing reports that synthesize complex analyses, interacting with clients, project management, managing and training personnel, and providing excellent client service.
The appropriate career level (Senior Associate or Director) will be determined throughout the interview process.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university in accounting, finance, or related disciplines
· Preference: Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or CPA eligible
· Preference: Accounting experience and familiarity with trial balances and general ledgers
· Experience in SQL, or other Programming Languages (R or Python)
· 3+ years of experience in:
o Accounting in an audit, tax or consulting capacity
o Interpretation and critical analysis of financial statements
· Collaborative team player
· Ability to support multiple projects and meet deadlines
· Strong project management skills
· Ability to manage and train personnel
· Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.
