Our Warrender Park Road campus comprises of a main teaching block (Malala Building), a state-of-the-art sports complex (Eric Liddell Sports Building) and an impressive music and drama suite including studio and theatre (Muriel Spark Building) with further teaching accommodation in our grade 1 listed building, Brunstfield House. We also have a newly refurbished annexe (Darroch) at Gillespie Street. Staff will regularly travel between the two sites.

We are looking to recruit a Curriculum Leader Social Subjects (Maternity cover). This is a fixed-term position until 12 December 2026.

Liberton High School is a non-denominational secondary school with roll of approximately 900 pupils, working in partnership with our associated primaries of Craigour Park, Gilmerton, Liberton and Prestonfield to serve our local community in South East Edinburgh.

We have a rising roll which is projected to peak at approximately 1100 within the next four years. We are excited to be moving into a new, purpose-built Community Campus, which is due to be completed in February 2026. The leadership team comprises of the Head Teacher, three Depute Head Teachers, and a Business Manager. We have a complement of 65 teaching staff and 26 support staff.

We are looking for a creative and innovative individual to join our Extended Leadership Team as Acting Curricular Leader of Social Subjects and RME.

The successful candidate will be able to use their skills, knowledge and experience to provide leadership within this faculty and hold responsibility for promoting our school values through the delivery of the faculty improvement plan. You will have overall responsibility to plan and implement the delivery of Curriculum for Excellence to ensure maximum impact that benefits children and young people

Teaching commitment will be a maximum of 17.5hrs and the successful candidate should have the ability to teach subjects from across the faculty within the BGE and either History, Geography, Modern Studies or RMPS in the senior phase.
