Serco have an exciting opportunity for a Furniture Management Section (FMS) Assistant Supervisor to join the team at RAF Croughton.
You will be responsible for supporting the safe and smooth operation of the Furniture Management Section. Reporting to the FMS Supervisor and Site Manager in their absence, liaising with MOD and LNDH staff to deliver and collect furniture and white goods to Servicemen and women throughout the UK. Along with the support in the management of the warehouse function.
Main responsibilities of the role include:
Standard Tasks:
- Carry out all elements of the FMS Warehouse / Driver role as required (warehouse duties, deliveries / collections / cleaning / testing / Installations)
Support the FMS Supervisor with:
- Health and Safety of the department
- Administrational tasks as directed such as (fuel returns, driver checks, training records etc)
- Act as a second POC staff in the direct absence of the FMS Supervisor
- Assist the supervisor with staff inductions and training
- Collaboratively formulate and assist in the implementation of all FMS plans
In the absence of the FMS Supervisor (expected to be short periods of time up to 2 weeks):
- Organisation and Supervision of staff and the daily tasks required to achieve the contractual duties
- Warehouse management (picking, cleaning, returning, testing, quality, swept, bins, tool accountability)
- Scheduling daily vehicle runs
- Ensure compliance within both Serco policies and Air Force Instructions
- Responsible for the Health and Safety of the department
- Ensuring driver hour’s regulations are met, arranging vehicle maintenance and upkeep and compliance to Transport Audit is achieved.
- Ensure that the team are fully conversant with driving regulations.
- Record all mileage and fuel spends for each vehicle
- Check and maintain safety of vehicles and loads
- Ordering of cleaning supplies and consumable items
- Ensuring all hazardous materials are managed in accordance to COSHH
Development (shadowing, development and training):
- Shadow the FMS Supervisor in Staff Reviews
- Completion of Month End and Fuels Returns
- Attend and complete all prescribed training
- Develop skills and knowledge of Share point and Assure (act as lead for FMS Sharepoint)
- Develop understanding of managing staff holidays and absence
- Any other duties as deemed necessary by the Site Manager
What you’ll need to do the role:
- To be able to communicate with customers and staff in an articulate and professional manner whilst being effective.
- Skills required to manage and team of 8 staff for short periods of time [up to 2 weeks]
- Able to work as part of a management team
- Be physically fit and able to lift heavy items
- Full clean driving license
- Ability and capacity to learn, train and develop in order to fulfil a step in supervisor role
Additional features to the role:
- The role is subject to gaining the appropriate Security Clearance
- Hold a Drivers Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) Card (desirable)
- Forklift Licence (desirable)
- Previous Warehouse, Delivery experience and Management experience (desirable)
