Cryptococcal meningitis (CM) is a fungal infection of immunocompromised individuals, responsible for over 100,000 deaths globally each year and 20% of AIDS-related deaths. In this project, we are studying a new way that macrophage immune cells can ingest and kill Cryptococcus. We have discovered that macrophages have sub-micron ridges on their surface which improves their ability to interact and phagocytose Cryptococcus.

Key Responsibilities
• Design, develop, and perform experiments to study host-pathogen interactions.
• Apply live imaging techniques to observe host-pathogen interactions in vitro, ex vivo, and in vivo.
• Employ advanced microscopy techniques to capture high-resolution images of immune cell interactions.

About the position

Aurora has developed a market leading suite of subscription services which provide analytics and insights to major players in the sector – helping to shine a light on developments across the power market and industry. Our services include Power and Renewable Market Services for major power markets globally, plus dedicated services for Flexible technologies such as grid-scale batteries. This will include: Acting as a specialist for researchers setting up studies in the trust Maintaining comprehensive knowledge of resources to support study development Supporting with the regular collection of data and reporting on performance metrics Deputising for the Divisional Research Manager WHAT WERE LOOKING FOR This post requires a dynamic, out-going person since a key aim in the role will be to develop relationships with researchers and to identify how best to support their studies. Good IT skills would be advantageous and the successful applicant should be able to provide evidence of continuing professional development relevant to the role.
