POSITION DESCRIPTION
Position Title: Research Intern
Location: Country Office, Abuja
Supervisor: Director, Strategic Information Informatics & Innovative Solutions
Job Summary:
The Research Intern will provide support to the Strategic Information department to assist with the implementation and maintenance of research studies. Support with coordination, reviews, and development of study related documents and assist with data management, site communication, and implementation of study components based on standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Perform introductory to intermediate level statistical analysis (e.g. regression analysis).
Duties and responsibilities:
- Maintains, updates, and may establish various databases for tracking research studies.
- Support gathering and summarization of information from literature.
- Support the development of study documents.
- Assist with data cleaning and analysis by formatting data tables.
- Support preparation of dissemination materials (e.g., reports/manuscripts/presentations) by assisting with formatting, collecting specific information, etc.
- Provide administrative support to teams which may include set up of study files and/or shared sites.
- Assist in the management of timelines and tracking progress.
Knowledge, Skills & Attributes:
- Excellent logical and analytical skills.
- Ability to perform root-cause analysis.
- Basic to intermediate knowledge of statistical methods for observational and randomized studies.
- Ability to analyze and interpret data, identify errors, and prepare reports.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Basic knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures with project design.
- Articulate, professional, and able to communicate in a clear, positive manner with staff.
- Strong organizational and attention to detail needed to adhere to deadlines.
- Effective communications in information shared by ensuring attention is paid to the specific components (i.e., formatting) of the communication, successful delivery, and accountability for specific components (i.e., keeping timelines updated).
- Ability to work in a fast-paced workplace to produce high-quality work.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor's, degree or its International Equivalent in Medical Sciences, Public Health, or related field with 1-3 years of post NYSC work experience.
- Prior experience in global public health preferred.
- Prior experience in a non-governmental organization (NGO) is an advantage.
