RPS Services is looking to appoint an experienced Head of Health & Safety. Reporting to the Services Leadership Team, you will lead on the delivery of the strategic priorities to ensure a proactive Health & Safety culture is embedded across RPS.
This is a senior role, where you will establish the direction and strategic priorities of the segment and monitor progress against these priorities. As Head of Health & Safety you will be responsible for ensuring that the segment successfully implements Group strategy for Health & Safety.
This is a permanent, full-time position
What you’ll be doing
You’re a credible and experienced Head of Health, Safety, Environment and Quality driving the way RPS supports its employees, who has a proven track record of leading H&S delivery in a large and complex international organisation.
You have proven experience and understanding in the continuous improvement of management systems and the accreditation of new standards.
You have the demonstrable ability to build positive, trusted relationships with the Segmental Leadership Team, all managers and colleagues across RPS.
You practise your expertise in a pragmatic way, supporting the businesses and their requirements.
You’re an excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills as your role will involve working collaboratively with all teams and divisions across RPS.
You will have the foresight to proactively understand, manage, report and address risks.
Clean UK driving license – the role requires travelling throughout our regions.
You have at a minimum, the NEBOSH qualification at Level 6 or equivalent qualifications. It's also essential that you are a ‘Graduate' Member of a relevant professional body.
Who we’re looking for?
You will ensure appropriate health, safety and wellbeing training requirements are identified, the training cascaded and delivered, whilst you are facilitating legal/regulatory compliance and a safe working environment across RPS Services in the UK and Netherlands specifically.
Reporting to the Services Leadership Team your work will involve ensuring a proactive Health & Safety culture is embedded across RPS.
You will establish an effective compliance and performance framework where risks are identified and enabling a solutions-oriented focus.
You will annually establish the direction and strategic priorities of the segment and monitor progress against these priorities.
You will be responsible for ensuring that the segment successfully implements Group strategy for Health & Safety.
You will also;
Lead the operational HSEQ team of regional H&S Business Partners and Advisors across the UK and Netherlands
Act as an ambassador and role model for the HSEQ functions with an engaging communication and influencing style able to work with all levels of the business
Collaborate with the leadership teams at senior level to help ensure a collective vision that extends beyond health and safety systems and compliance, but also focuses on our people and their behaviour to help create a positively reinforced learning culture
Lead the business in continuous improvement of HSEQ policies and procedures
Ensure a culture of best practice health and safety across all sites, ensuring full regulatory compliance
Attend segment and division leadership meetings where required.
Ensure activities across the network are properly risk assessed, managing a regular audit programme to evaluate performance
Oversee the development and continuous improvement of management systems, seeking opportunities to improve and enhancing the overall health, safety, environment and quality strategy and performance
Deliver relevant management reports on health and safety for the segment CEO and division MDs
Provide proactive, active and reactive professional assistance as the ‘subject matter expert' for Health & Safety in line with the legal and regulatory requirements of the UK and Netherlands
Support Operational Directors to formulate effective compliance and improvement plans aligned to the corporate Health & Safety strategy
Work collaboratively with Business Partners across organisations to ensure best practice HSEQ solutions are shared throughout the business
Contribute to driving sustainable culture change through the short and long-term planning of HSEQ activity and resources
Develop and implement new working methods and initiatives to improve HSEQ performance across the business
Have the appetite and ability to work collaboratively across the compliance function, wider business functions and operational delivery teams
Able to consistently produce high-quality communications (presentations, reports and emails)
