The role
A fantastic opportunity has arisen to work within the Parks and Grounds Maintenance Team and be part of our journey on the road to greatness. The team requires an Operative Level 2, to be based in Paignton.
This is a unique opportunity to work in a range of interesting environments and use a broad range of equipment. The team undertakes all aspects of garden, grounds and parks maintenance from ornamental prestigious parks, sports pitch maintenance to generic grass cutting.
You
You will be an integral part of ‘Team ‘SWISCo’ as we continue to develop and grow and your role will be key, in driving the culture and effectiveness of the business, ensuring SWISCo operates innovatively and profitably, whilst delivering against targets.
You will be part of a Team who are the face of SWISCo whilst out working in the community so community focus will be at the forefront of what you do. It is important that you continue to work and foster our culture of positive thinking, a ‘can do’ attitude and teamwork.

Key Duties:
• To work against set planned schedules and undertake operational tasks required as well as being responsive to operational needs
• To work as a team to ensure operations meet with SWISCo’s safety, performance and operational targets. To include maintaining effective understanding of health and safety with regard to safe working practices.
• To maintain effective working standards to ensure effective delivery of service provision in line with the established timeframes.
• Drive and operate the necessary small plant in a safe and responsible manner.
Essential Skills, Knowledge, Experience and Qualifications for initial shortlisting:
Skills and Effectiveness
• Able to work on own initiative proactively and with the minimum of direction.
• Effective communication skills to include the ability to present information to others concisely and consistently.
• Effective ability to meet targets and demand, to include conflicting deadlines.
Knowledge
• Effective knowledge of Health & Safety processes.
• Effective knowledge, understanding of data protection and confidentiality.
• Effective knowledge of how to operate plant and machinery such as forklift truck/mowers.
Experience
• Previous experience of operating plant and machinery.
• Previous experience of working within a performance driven organisation and against Key Performance Indicators or other performance related targets.
• Experience of problem solving to successful outcomes.
• Able to demonstrate in-still trust to staff members at all levels, clients/customers and the general public.
Qualifications
• Educated to GCSE standard or equivalent.
