The Role

We are looking for an experienced Counsellor for Depression (CfD). As a practitioner you will play a crucial role in our Step 3 team providing first-class mental health care to the Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland population. This is an excellent opportunity to build on your skills and develop your career in a fast-growing organisation.

You will deliver Counselling for Depression via multiple channels including telephone, secure video link and Face to Face. You will need to be confident in managing a case load whilst delivering a service. This will include structured assessments, provision of instant emotional support, clinical decision-making and a focus on positive and suitable clinical outcomes.

You will be comfortable working with service targets of 19 attended clinical contacts per week, 7 completed treatments per month (pro-rata) and reliable recovery of 48%. You will be resilient and able to manage your wellbeing, whilst achieving these targets.

Alongside a good track record in a similar role, you should possess a recognised CfD qualification, or be willing to train within the model. Hold BACP/UKCP accreditation (or eligibility to apply), and a willingness to develop yourself further within the CfD model.

Core responsibilities of this role include:

• Understands MRI safety concepts and executes them diligently and consistently to maintain magnet safety for patients, guests, self, and fellow caregivers.

Job Essentials:

• Ensures proper patient identification, order verification, and prepares the patient for the exam.
• Is sensitive to the patients needs throughout the procedure. Sufficiently explains to the patient and family the procedure about to be performed in order to facilitate cooperation and alleviate patient anxiety. Addresses any patient concerns.
• Performs radiologic exams that produce quality images and ensures patient and staff safety. Accomplishes this by following proper protocols, correct patient positioning, appropriate and effective use of equipment, and adherence to radiation protection and guidelines.
• Utilizes sterile technique when performing invasive procedures.
• Recognizes emergent patient situations and responds quickly and appropriately.
• Thoroughly and accurately completes all required documentation, including time stamps and image storage.
• Coordinates patient care and communicates pertinent information to other patient care providers following procedure.
• Maintains a clean, neat, and safe environment for patients and staff. Ensures that supplies and equipment are stored in an organized and efficient manner.
• Pursues individual education and career development opportunities, emphasizing those for new procedures and equipment.
• As appropriate, assists and instructs students and other Radiology Techs in exam protocols, procedures, positioning, and equipment.

Minimum Qualifications:

• ARRT registration.
• Current Rad Tech license in state of practice (if working in Utah).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare providers.
• May be required to complete the Medical Assistant (MA) Competency Checklist within 90 days of hire and perform the function of an MA (as required by Medical Group).

Preferred Qualifications:

• IV certification.

Essential Functions:

• Consistently demonstrates a thorough knowledge of patient positioning, principles of CR/DR, Fluoroscopy in acute care environments, quality control, image processing, and demonstrates the ability to plan own work. May assist physicians in performing procedures.

• As appropriate, prepares and administers correct amount of contrast, using aseptic techniques as outlined in the Infection Control manual. Documents appropriately in patients chart. Completed injector training.

Performs clinical functions within acceptable standards of care including:
Prioritizes (triage) patient needs identified through phone, electronic, and walk-in communication in accordance with established guidelines, standing orders, and protocols.
Recognizes and appropriately responds to emergency situations.
Prepares and maintains examination and treatment areas.
Performs complete intake process as specified by physician or other providers (chief complaint, history, vital signs, height, weight, OFC, care process model data, etc.).
Administers screening tests to patients (e.g., visual tests, audiology, spirometry, EKGs) within practice type.
Assists provider with examinations, procedures, treatments, and interventions.
Provides patient education as directed (content reflects specific MA training, guidelines, care process models, protocols).
Reports significant changes in patient condition or other pertinent patient information to the Physician.
Following provider instructions, demonstrates accurate, timely, and efficient follow through with pharmacy refills, scheduling out of clinic procedures, obtaining, reporting and tracking of lab results, leaving phone messages, and distributing faxes.
Actively participates in quality improvement initiatives (i.e. CQI, TQM, Lean, 100% participation, etc.).

Minimum Qualifications

Medical Assistant

Entry Pay: $18.83+ (Pay is dependent on years of Medical Assistant experience)

• Current Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers. Must be obtained prior to start date.
• Successful completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program with an externship. Proof of Medical Assistant program completion must be provided.

Or 1 year of Medical Assistant Experience or has a current RN/LPN license.

Physical Requirements:

Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.

Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.

- and -

Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.

- and -

Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.

- and -

Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc).

May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
