Location: Exeter or London but must be flexible to travel between both sites

Exciting Opportunity for a Finance Accountant
This role will put you at the heart of the Finance and Commercial functions within Customers Finance, supporting the transition to the new Retail business billing platform and being the driving force behind key planning activities and related areas of regulatory reporting.
Responsibilities
- You will have responsibility for ensuring a smooth financial close process that meets the requirements of our internal management reporting as well as the needs of a corporate stakeholders. This will include ensuring transactions are consistent with Group accounting policy (IFRS) and the outputs align with the needs of the business teams.
- Month End includes some consolidation activities to report up to Group - posting of journals, ensuring that balance sheet movements are consistent with Income statements or Cash flow movements and talking through the monthly financial results with the Group Reporting team.
- Acting as a point of contact for updates to the chart of accounts, cost centre structures and maintaining various Hierarchy mappings within the Anaplan reporting tool.
- Consolidating the financial plans for Customers business. This includes production of Medium-Term Plan (MTP), and quarterly reforecasts reported to Corporate, and the monthly internal forecast updates for the Business Managers. You will use our reporting system Anaplan to consolidate the forecasts and budgets covering Income statements, Cashflow and Balance sheets ensuring quality and consistency.
- Producing the quarterly Ofgem forecasting; 3 years forecast of our financial statements, using different energy cost scenarios provided by the industry regulator Ofgem, and primarily focussed on our cash liquidity.
- Producing the annual Ofgem Segmental reports showing EBIT by Domestic and Non-domestic channels.
- You may be asked to assist in updating the annual goodwill impairment model for the valuation of the Customers Business Unit. This involves inputting budget and other long-term volume and commodity prices.
- Audit, providing financial information to the auditors and helping to chase other teams.
- Assisting the finance teams in technical accounting queries, sharing changes in group policy and in accounting standards, ensuring consistency across the business (we have a technical team in group to assist)
Requirements
The role holder needs good business awareness to provide insight, sense checking and interpretation of the data. They need to predict stakeholder questions, areas of interest and requirements, ensuring that the commentaries are supported by analysis (from the business teams) to underpin what is presented, and that the story and messages are consistent throughout. You'll have the ability to learn and apply industry knowledge.
- Accounting qualification - Fully qualified (ACA/CIMA/ACCA)
- You'll have industry experience.
- Be able to demonstrate use of financial systems, strong analysis skills and experience in financial accounting.
- Have experience with balance sheets
- Experience using SAP and software such as Anaplan (or similar) for business planning and forecasting
- You'll be highly accountable with an attention to detail and resilience to work through issues.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
