About this Position
The AVP of Infrastructure supports the VP of Infrastructure in managing the strategic and operational framework of the company’s compute, storage, and hyper-converged environments. The AVP will help ensure that the infrastructure is robust, secure, and flexible to meet the evolving demands of the business landscape.
Responsibilities & Qualifications
Job Responsibilities and Duties:
- Assist in the development and execution of a comprehensive infrastructure strategy that aligns with company objectives and adapts to ongoing technology advancements
- Design and execute on delivering a secure, high-availability infrastructure systems, including end-point computing, storage and computing resources, ensuring performance excellence, high service availability, data integrity, and a positive user experience.
- Execute operational excellence plans through automation, process improvement, and the implementation of best practices across all infrastructure domains.
- Manage infrastructure hardware and software provisioning, maintenance, upgrades, and lifecycle processes.
- Help uphold infrastructure policies, standards, and protocols in line with organizational objectives and compliance mandates.
- Act as a point of contact for the IT Infrastructure team in all matters related to ITSM processes, fostering a culture of transparency, accountability, and timely resolution of incidents and changes. Facilitate regular review meetings for Incident and Change Management to assess performance, identify process enhancements, and ensure compliance with established SLAs and KPIs. Drive the adoption of automation and tool integration within the ITSM framework to improve process efficiency and accuracy across Incident, Change, and Service Request management.
- Lead and Manage the IT infrastructure server teams, fostering an environment of innovation and continuous improvement, and facilitating technical and career development.
- Participate in in all Infrastructure related Incidents reported, assisting second tier support teams with direction, decisions, and technical advice to streamline troubleshooting with the goal of a quick resolution or, If they cannot resolve quickly, appropriate and timely escalation. Own the completion of any incidents or documentation for supporting teams for executive and post mortem review.
- Formal supervisory responsibilities, including performance management, staffing, employee relations & compensation.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in in related field or Industry experience in infrastructure management including previous large-scale
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in IT infrastructure with a clear track record of supporting leadership roles in complex, diverse environments.
- Strong experience in systems administration within Unix (including AIX) and Windows Server ecosystems.
- Solid understanding of deploying, optimizing, and managing web applications with high availability; experience with WebSphere and seamless integration with various server platforms.
- Technical acumen in managing infrastructure elements like IBM Power Systems, x86 servers, and virtualization solutions such as VMware ESXi and Nutanix.
- Proficiency in supporting HCI technology implementations, particularly with Nutanix platforms, and a capacity to scale such environments effectively.
- Experience in supporting the management of virtualization technologies and cloud services (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Knowledgeable in assisting the administration of storage solutions (SAN, NAS) and storage protocols (iSCSI, NFS, SMB/CIFS).
- Skilled in aiding system monitoring, performance tuning, and ensuring overall system health.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Nutanix Administration strongly preferred
- AWS and Azure IaaS experience strongly preferred
- Expertise in middleware management with specific proficiency in IBM WebSphere application server environments"
