General To assess and maintain equipment and devices for use in health care services Assess new medical devices/equipment for clinical use. Commission and accept new medical devices/equipment for clinical use either in the clinical area or within MEMS. Calibrate and verify electrical / electronic equipment in the clinical area. Conduct complex fault finding / repair on electrical / electronic equipment. Equipment Management As part of a team or at the request of the Section manager establish clinical need for new, modified or replacement medical equipment. Correctly interpret clinical needs in respect of intended use, context and performance parameters of the required equipment Advise on the need for new or replacement medical equipment to clinical or technical user Carry out recommendations within designated clinical area Refer recommendations outside designated clinical area to relevant authority for action Undertake and report on analysis for installation or relocation of medical equipmentRespond to specific requests for new or replacement medical equipment. Provide medical device technical expertise in relation to connectivity, and networking for connectable medical devices utilised within the Trust. Correctly perform the fitting and adaption of complex medical equipment to accommodate MDI. Assist in creating and improving processes related to all areas of MDI service delivery. Ensure stock of MDI/connectivity parts are maintained. Liaise directly with staff from MEMS, MEP and ICT departments, and also with clinical, auxiliary staff, managerial staff, training officers, technical, and support staff at all levels within the Trust and other healthcare organisations. The post holder will also deal directly with equipment manufacturers, service suppliers, and external customers. The establishment and maintenance of good relations with all appropriate stakeholders is an essential aspect of this post.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Ensuring site safety is managed to Company and legal standards across all projects and through visible management commitment supporting the safety culture within the company
* Working closely with the Contracts / Operations Manager to plan, manage and deliver project tasks and outcomes in accordance with scope and contract, including authoring of Risk Assessment Method Statements.
* Project life cycle cost control; from pre-start budget, construction phase cost reporting and forecasting.
* Establish the initial budget (Bo) for the project
* Implement cost control and monitor physical progress
* Support the commercial team during the monthly cost and revenue exercise including preparation of forecast costs
* Monitor payment of invoices
* Reviewing and validating plans and drawings and interface with design engineers and draftsmen to ensure accuracy and buildability
* Application of technical and engineering expertise to the project
* Engagement and management of sub-contractors, ensuring safe systems of works are in place and complied with, inductions completed, and work standards / schedules are being adhered to.

* First level identification of issues or contractual changes to the SOW that require remediation and/or escalation

Knowledge & Experience:

* Professional Health and Safety Qualification (CSCS Black card & SMSTS Minimum)
* Experience of operational management of projects gained from a TIER 2 specialist contracting environment

The Role

The Engineering & Technical Lead (Enabling Works & Earthworks) will be part of the Engineering and Technical function within the Civil Work Program organisation and will be responsible for leadership of the delivery of all CWP Enabling Works & Earthworks design on behalf of the SZC Client. The Civil Works Programme Engineering and Technical Lead is responsible for the leadership of the delivery of all CWP Enabling Works & Earthworks design. This includes:


- Definition of design / engineering / technical requirements.
- Assurance that design deliverables meet the technical requirements (incl Digital Requirements), and management of assurance review and stage gate process.
- Management of design production by the Design Supply Chain to ensure that design deliverables are available to support the delivery schedule, including planning, procurement and construction.
- Management of the Responsible Designer (Edvance and CNEPE) Technical Scope and coordination with the Design Authority.
- Coordination and integration of the Enabling Works & Earthworks design with the design of other Portions including Main Civils Works, Ancillary Works and Marine & Tunnelling.
- Support to Construction and Manufacturing Quality
- Manage the Engineering & Technical budget and associated resources related to enabling works & earthworks.

The Skills
The ideal candidate will have a strong Civils and/or nuclear background in a relevant project, specifically in the earthworks sector, and hold a degree within the relevant field. They will have a strong understanding of the UK’s engineering practices & procedures, hold a clear understanding of design and engineering interfaces with construction teams, commissioning teams, supply chain and third parties, as well as significant leadership experience of ground engineering teams and major projects.

The capacity to manage multidisciplinary teams in a large and complex project environment is essential, alongside being able to communicate and engage effectively at a range of levels: Management Team, client departments, design delivery teams, third party authorisers etc.
