You'll be reporting to the Head of Origination and Distribution Engineering in Content, Technology & Innovation. You will be responsible for a number of key aspects related to lifecycle and reliability of broadcast services leveraging the capabilities in Origination and Distribution.
What you'll do:
The Video Engineering Manager is a pivotal leadership position within our broadcast technology organization, focused on advancing the frontiers of video engineering. This role is dedicated to managing the technical aspects of video processing, compression, and delivery, ensuring that our broadcast solutions deliver the highest quality video content across various platforms.
The manager is responsible for spearheading projects that utilize cutting-edge video technologies like 4K, HDR, and 360-degree video, driving innovation to meet evolving market demands and enhancing viewer experiences. By leading a team of skilled engineers, the Video Engineering Manager ensures that all video-related technologies integrate seamlessly into our overall product offerings and align with strategic business goals.
Their expertise in video technology, coupled with strong leadership and strategic vision, makes them crucial in maintaining our company's competitive edge in delivering superior broadcast solutions.
- Lead Video Technology Initiatives: Oversee the development and implementation of video processing, compression, and delivery technologies to ensure high-quality content delivery across various platforms.
- Manage Video Projects: Direct projects involving 4K, HDR, and 360-degree video formats, ensuring they meet industry standards and customer expectations for video quality and viewer experience.
- Innovate and Improve: Push the boundaries of current video technology by researching and integrating the latest video codecs, streaming algorithms, and technological advancements to enhance video quality and efficiency.
- Quality Assurance: Establish rigorous testing protocols for all video outputs, ensuring they are free from defects and optimized for different network conditions and playback scenarios.
- Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with the Product Team and Core Engineering Team to align video capabilities with market needs and the overall product architecture, ensuring seamless integration and performance scalability.
- Resource Management: Allocate resources effectively, manage budgets for video technology projects, and oversee the video engineering team to ensure project goals are met on time and within budget.

Our Osterley Campus is a 10-minute walk from Syon Lane train station. Or you can hop on one of our free shuttle buses that run to and from Osterley, Gunnersbury, Ealing Broadway and South Ealing tube stations. There are also plenty of bike shelters and showers.
