Cornell Engineering Project Teams mimic real-world engineering by bringing Cornell students, faculty, and staff together to solve complex problems in team-based settings. Breaking the rules of conventional wisdom is not foreign to our engineers and the spirit of innovation is alive and well in our state-of-the-art labs and workshops. Many of our teams compete regionally, nationally, and internationally in engineering design and build competitions and/or travel the globe for service learning projects and programs. Staff members working with Cornell Engineering’s Project Teams partner with faculty members, Alumni Affairs & Development, College leadership and other university resources to foster multidisciplinary collaboration across the University’s seven colleges and provide support to over 1,100 student participants.

Cornell’s College of Engineering currently offers professional Master of Engineering (MEng) degrees in 15 different disciplines. Originally established in 1965 as a “fifth-year” option for Cornell Engineering undergraduates, the MEng programs have expanded considerably in size and geographic footprint over the years and continue to evolve to meet the needs of today’s rapidly changing business environments. Currently there are over 700 full-time MEng students on the Ithaca campus, over half of whom completed undergraduate degrees elsewhere, and roughly 65% of whom are international. All MEng programs share the common goals of advancing the breadth and depth of their students’ core disciplinary knowledge and providing them with opportunities to synthesize and apply this knowledge to practical engineering design problems. Cornell MEng alumni number in the tens of thousands. The MEng plays a critical strategic role in the College of Engineering’s portfolio of degree offerings, and its continued success hinges upon providing a valuable program experience and enhanced career opportunities for students.

This is a shared position involving support for the Project Team Director and the Director for Master of Engineering Programs Support Services.

What You Will Do:

We are seeking a part-time (20 hours per week), non-benefits eligible temporary administrative assistant who will be able to assist with the following but not limited to:

• General administrative support

• Scheduling meetings and zooms

• Reserving conference rooms

• Ordering of office supplies, paying bills, etc

• Processing travel reimbursements

Center for Diversity Strategies

• Supports recruitment of 160+ annual participants in the South Carolina Diversity Leaders Initiative (SC DLI).

• Supports convenings of SC DLI classes, currently comprising four cohorts, 20 class days and 160+ participants annually.

• Supports recruitment for and online delivery of SC DLI graduate offerings and industry-focused national DLI programs.

• Supports Upstate Diversity Leaders Awards event and Lowcountry Diversity Leaders Awards events.

• Works with CDS director to conceive and undertake SC DLI alumni engagement program.

• Supports CDS marketing and communications efforts, including web, social, print, media, and email.

• Collects information for, creates and distributes Riley Fellows bulletin.

• Manages DLI collateral, supply and print inventories and needs.

• Maintains contact database for all participants in CDS programming.

• Manages hotel and travel arrangements for CDS staff as necessary.

• Oversees CDS students interns.

Supports Riley Institute general administrative needs, including front desk; travel and calendar supports for Institute leadership; supplies; maintenance of supply room and conference room; staff hardware and software purchases; onboards new staff; etc.
