Job description
Windtech is seeking a Senior Building Aerodynamics / Wind Engineer having substantial experience in the study of wind impacts on tall building and civil structures to join the wind engineering team at our London office.
Reporting to Windtech's Director for UK and Europe, Windtech has an opening for a CFD/Wind engineer to join the London team.
Responsibilities and Duties
• Conduct Experimental and Computational Wind Engineering on various aspects of the built environment
• Conduct research and simulation of energy/thermal, solar, daylight and airflow of the built environment
• Liaise with clients and other members of the team to deliver consultancy projects on time and within budget
• Devise methodologies for analysis and visualisation of different aspects of the built environment
• Presenting analysis both internally and externally in the form of reports and client presentations
Job requirements:
Essential:
• 2 to 5 years experience in wind tunnel microclimate studies in the UK.
• 5yrs experience in CFD modelling, preferably using Openfoam
• at least 2yrs experience in presenting and discussion results and wind mitigations directly with the project consultants
• excellent written and verbal communication skills
Desirable:
• Experience with building physics modelling
• Experience with stack effect modelling e.g. using CONTAM
• coding for Openfoam
• preferably the applicant would be currently based in the greater London area or the UK.
• Experience using the following tools/ software packages: Grasshopper, Radiance, Indesign, Rhinoceros 3D, Paraview
