Are you a therapy assistant that would like a new challenge? This vacancy has arisen within our well-established Inpatient Therapy Service at Watford General Hospital.

This is a fixed-term, full-time role for 12 months, working 37.5 hours per week.

This post would be suitable for an individual with a particular interest in assisting patients to become as independent as possible. The role would also include supporting our qualified members of staff to deliver complex treatments to dependent patients who have had Orthopaedic surgery.

The successful candidate needs to have previous NHS experience, ideally in an acute setting. Previous therapy assistant experience would also be preferable.

The role will involve carrying out prescribed treatments, with some responsibility to progress patients within set limits, and providing feedback to the qualified team members.

There will be admin roles associated with this post, including electronic patient notes and equipment stock takes and ordering.

UK NEQAS Blood Transfusion and Laboratory Practice (BTLP) is seeking an EQA Scientist, and we strongly encourage applications from Biomedical Scientists (BMSs) competent in transfusion testing.

This role is ideal for BMS professionals with hands-on transfusion testing experience and familiarity with a range of laboratory transfusion technologies and troubleshooting skills.

Our Transfusion team is a close-knit group of six, primarily with BMS backgrounds, working within a larger unit of around 30 colleagues, which also includes UK NEQAS Haematology.

You’ll have opportunities to attend transfusion conferences, keeping up to date with developments in the field.

We are based in a modern, custom-designed facility in Croxley Business Park, Watford, with amenities such as an on-site gym, childcare facilities, free parking, and a shuttle service from local train stations.

Laboratory work is phasic and depends on the needs of the service from day to day; approximately half your time will be spent in the laboratory and the other half in the office. Training will be provided in all aspects of EQA.

The normal hours for this post are 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 09:00 to 17:30, however, part-time working of at least 30 hours per week would be considered.

We are looking for two full time Trust Grade Senior House Officer (ST1-3) in General Paediatrics and one in Neonatology, based at Watford General Hospital. The duration of the post is for 6 months from 04/12/2024 to 06/05/2025, with the possibility for further contract extension for the right candidate.

This is an exciting opportunity to work within a busy and vibrant Paediatric department. Our Neonatal unit is a designated local Neonatal Unit (Level 2) within the East of England operational delivery network.

The General Paediatric rotation will include the assessment and management of children and young people in the Children’s Emergency Department, Paediatric Assessment Unit, Inpatient ward and Day-care settings. • Diagnose and repair faults on complex mechanical services, engineering plant and equipment, deal with new situations as they arise and pass on knowledge to others.

A Vacancy at West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.


Watford General Hospital is a tertiary Gynaecological Cancer Centre supported by three Gynaecological oncology consultants. Our workload is close to 400 new cancer cases a year treated in our centre. Within the department there is extensive experience in advanced ovarian cancer surgery. We are a multi-platform robotic centre with two Versius and one daVinci platforms.

The new appointee will have adequate surgical exposure to day surgery, complex oncology surgery, and minimal access surgery including robotics. There are at least thrice weekly gynaecology oncology theatres (8 hours per session). The fellow is expected to support the three gynaecology oncology consultants with daily ward rounds, oncology and rapid access clinics, research, clinical audits and MDT meetings. Depending on the workload of the consultants, the fellow might be expected to do extra gynae theatre lists.

Our Obstetrics and Gynaecology department consists of 24 Consultants and one visiting consultant, 16 middle grade doctors (including this post), 2 FY2 doctors and 9 ST1/2 doctors. The candidate will participate in an on-call rota of 1 in 8.

This post is initially for a period of 9 months and might be extended therefore after. The post will commence as soon as possible. This is a post CCT post.

This new position will provide a constant support to our CNS and ward staff with dedicated time for daily ward rounds. This will create cohesion within the team improving the continuous care offered to the oncology patients. They will be a key person in implementing our Enhanced Recovery Protocol.
