About the role
Staffordshire University has entered into a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) with an innovative and growing Newcastle-under-Lyme based company called Time4Sport Ltd who offer a range of business activities aimed at promoting active and healthy lifestyles among children and families.
We are now looking to recruit a full-time Research & System Development Engineer to help to further develop a web-based platform/phone app. This will be an information sharing platform/app where schools, health workers, parents, carers etc. can seek advice and guidance on how best to support children's/young people's weight issues, emotional and mental wellbeing.
Research will be undertaken on the current app/platform and you will start to maximise it's potential. The required candidates’ capabilities will include elements of the following software knowledge: -
Sound knowledge/experience of both IOS and Android app development.
Interfacing is appealing and login with Face ID/Touch ID programmed.
Ensure app is UI/UX and easy to navigate.
Software programming videos to seamlessly integrate into the app.

Main Responsibilities
The Research & System Development Engineer will be provided with a framework around which the project activities are expected to focus. These activities will include:
Essential to have experience in IOS and Android app development
Generate specifications to integrate video
Continue to build and program an existing app
Production of a final report that sets out a roadmap for the app
While completing this work the Research & System Development Engineer will report to the company/business supervisor on a weekly basis and be provided with regular support from the Academic Knowledge Exchange Lead.
Project Management. As a KTP Associate you will be entrusted with leading and managing the project, taking full ownership of progress and outcomes, ensuring that milestones are met with innovation and efficiency.
The successful candidate will need to have:
Previous experience in app development / software coding is essential.
Finding solutions/working in a dynamic environment.
Flare for creativity.
This appointment is available on a fixed-term basis for 24 months with 29 days annual leave per year (including bank holidays).
