Primary Details Time Type: Full time Worker Type: Employee Location: Sydney Type: Permanent, full time The opportunity An exciting opportunity to join the AusPac Catastrophe Modelling team as an Analyst. Our diverse and dynamic team provides insights and advice related to catastrophe risk to a range of QBE business areas including underwriting, finance, reinsurance, capital and actuarial. As part of the team, you will manage and own the analysis workflow on earthquake, bushfire, flood, cyclone and storm risk, produce insights on exposure and modelled results and analyse catastrophe reinsurance structures and strategies to support reinsurance placements. You will have an opportunity to further develop your analytical and communication skills, in a supportive team environment, by providing timely information and estimates of potential claims during catastrophe events and conduct post-event reviews. Your new role Manage the analysis workflow - extract data from underwriting systems, maintain cat modelling databases, provide analysis results and guidance to internal customers Produce customised reports on exposure and modelled results Analyse catastrophe reinsurance structures and strategies to support reinsurance placements Continually review processes and data quality, establish initiatives to deliver improvements Provide timely information and estimates of potential claims during catastrophe events Evaluate insurance pricing for individual accounts and product classes Contribute to Group projects as required, liaising with other divisions About you Prior experience in a catastrophe modelling or analytical role in (Re)Insurance industry Degree level education in a quantitative field such as mathematics, statistics, science, natural hazards, engineering, or related fields Ability to wok independently and manage competing deadlines on multiple projects Experience working with large datasets with an eye for detail (using SQL, R, SAS) Experience using database, statistical, geospatial and catastrophe modelling software e.g. RMS or AIR, Excellent analytical, interpersonal, communication and organizational skills Strong team collaboration and a willingness to help solve complex business issues About QBE We can never really predict what's around the corner, but at QBE we're asking the right questions to enable a more resilient future - helping those around us build strength and embrace change to their advantage.
