We are looking for an enthusiastic Speech and Language Therapy Assistant to join our friendly and hard working Speech and Language Therapy Team, working across Essex. You will provide direct clinical work to children and young adults under the guidance of Therapists, across a range of settings including; clinics, mainstream schools, further education settings, special schools and occasionally pupils' homes. You will liaise with families, education staff and the wider multi-disciplinary team, and be required to perform patient-related administrative tasks.

The post holder will deliver therapy sessions with and without direct supervision, and be proficient in the delivery of care to pupils and families. You will:

Work with parents/carers/educational settings to implement therapeutic intervention programmes.

Within the planned pathway the post holder will support the effective management a defined caseload of housebound patients in the provision of quality nursing care, applying evidence-based practice.
Within the unplanned pathway the post holder will respond according to clinical priority for patients triaged as requiring care outside of the planned pathway.

To undertake relevant competency training, specific to the service area and appropriate to the role banding. This may involve medicines administration and basic wound care.











You will work as part of multi disciplinary team, alongside physiotherapists, nurses, support workers, associate practitioners and consultants.

You will be responsible for the assessment of patients allocated to you, and for the provision of their treatment plan and subsequent interventions, You will be required to complete joint visit with other members of the team. To be able to feedback to the cordintors in the serivce a clear plan for each patient.

You will need to complete on ward referrals to other services, and ensure and make recommendations for the provision of equipment and or adaptations if deemed appropriate.

You will also be involved in the assessment of patients with cognitive impairment, and dementia and will expected following appropriate training to be able to take patients observations, and complete clear concise and appropriate records.

You assessments will take place in a number of different settings but predominantly in the patients own home.
