People to join its Senior Leadership Team to ensure effective and efficient delivery of our people and learning and development

Reporting to the CEO, this role is critical in ensuring that our c400 colleagues and 500+ volunteers have the values, skills, and
workplace culture, that will enable them to thrive, and deliver excellent services. In addition to acting as a strategic business
partner and trusted advisor to senior leaders, you will have the professional business administration and leadership skills to
help us build the right business processes, systems and structures, for maximum efficiency and cost effectiveness, so that our
managers and frontline workers can focus fully on delivery. You will help us modernise, to keep our core costs as low as
possible, so that even more of our resources can be spent to support people to cope with the impact of prison, and live good lives
after release. But you will be more than your technical and business skills. You will be a people person too, and a role model

You will take a strategic leadership role in developing the capabilities of our managers, developing and implementing our
business plan and people strategy, in alignment with the overall goals and values of the charity that have been developed over 125
years. You will lead initiatives that foster a sense of engagement and community and a ‘one team’ approach, for our dispersed
workforce of small teams that deliver services in c70 prisons and a range of other locations across England and Wales. You will
help build a culture of trust, collaboration and inclusion.

Key responsibilities include shaping our approach to talent management, and developing our recruitment and retention strategies,
including embedding EDI into all aspects of the management and development of people to ensure we are able to attract, engage and
retain a diverse and inclusive workforce. You will also share our passion and commitment to facilitating opportunities for people
with lived experience of the criminal justice system to shape our thinking and be part of our workforce.

It is essential you are MCIPD qualified (or have evidence of working at this level) with senior HR and workforce development
experience, including implementing your strong working knowledge of employment law and HR best practice and delivery of learning
and development. You will also have experience of managing change, systems and business process improvement. As an experienced
manager, you will have the skills to lead and inspire our People Team which includes the Training Manager, and Heads of HR and
Volunteering as direct reports.

Pact have secured funding from the Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC) to deliver a dedicated community mentoring
service in London. The role will provide a mentoring service for male service users on community sentences, aiming to address
their thinking, behaviour, and attitudes while also providing practical assistance.



The role will work alongside Integrated Offender Management (IOM) who oversee the most persistent and repeat offenders. The
overall aim of the IOM mentoring service is to help reduce reoffending from IOM cases seen by the service due to complex needs.
This will be achieved through the following outcomes:

* Addressing thinking, behaviour, and attitudes that contribute to offending;
* Improving engagement, motivation, and trust;
* Removing short-term barriers and supporting long-term change;
* Providing practical support



The Mentoring Manager is responsible for managing personal and team performance against service delivery targets, working in
collaboration with MOPAC and Contract Managers to evidence delivery and outcomes. The role will oversee the work of two full time
mentors working across London as well as providing support for a small cohort of service users.




The role will also be responsible for overseeing the recruitment, training and vetting a small pool of volunteers dedicated to
this service. Supported by our national volunteering infrastructure and resources, this post will ensure Volunteer Mentors are
appropriately allocated and supported to deliver this community mentoring service for People on community sentences.

Role overview

The Case Manager will manage a caseload of Prisoners in prison, supporting them to break down barriers to successful resettlement,
achieve agreed milestones and enter employment, training or education. Engage eligible Prisoners, provide initial assessment and
undertake action planning to prisoners being released from in-scope prisons. Provide advice, guidance, coaching, mentoring and
support to a caseload of participants via regular one-to-one meetings and group interventions as appropriate.

Pact’s Case Managers support Prisoners in custody to prepare for release and successfully resettle into their local communities.
They will support the delivery of the NOMS CFO Programme providing practical help, advice and guidance, as well as motivation and
understanding. Providing support for individuals with multiple and complex needs to overcome barriers and progress towards
education, training and employment.



About you:



Experience of working with hard-to- reach demographics in challenging environments.

Ability to work to targets on a monthly basis. Excellent IT skills (this is a paperless contract using a case management system).
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.

supporting people with convictions to improve their personal wellbeing and strengthen family relationships.




One-to-one support will be core to the service including building trust and undertaking activities and interventions that meet the
needs of each individual. You will also deliver group sessions and workshops to support the development of skills and strategies
such as communication, resilience, negotiation and assertiveness skills; confident and responsible parenting behaviours and
