This position serves as the Assistant Regional Inspector General for Audit Services Region IV.

Duties include but are not limited to the following:

• Serving as a Supervisory Auditor (Audit Manager) and is responsible for the conduct of comprehensive audits of Departmental programs, such as those managed by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
• Planning, directing and coordinating the audit segment of the IG annual work plan within the region.

• Responsible for packaging draft and final audit reports and analyzing the reports to ensure that these audit reports do not contain personally identifiable information (PII).
• Responsible for using Adobe Acrobat software to redact PII from audit reports. Responsible for distributing draft and final reports issued from OAS Headquarters to HHS OPDIVs and keeping OAS Headquarters and Regional management apprised of the status of the report distribution.
• Responsible for ensuring that audit reports posted to the HHS-OIG Internet are Section 508 compliant and accessible to persons with disabilities.
• Responsible for analyzing the report for section 508 compliance and if necessary, remediating the audit report using the appropriate software tools.
• Assists Regional Program Support Specialists in making their audit reports Section 508 compliant.
• Design, develop, and maintain the OAS Intranet site.
• Ensures that reports prepared for the internet are complete, accurate, and uploaded in a timely manner.
• Implements enhancements in response to OAS changing needs.
• Prepare final audit reports for posting to the OIG website, in accordance with OIG Public Affairs guidelines.
• Coordinate posting of final audit reports to the OIG website by the legislatively required timeframe with Office of Management and Policy (OMP) technology staff.

The Inspector General (IG) of the U.S. Department of Education (Department) heads an independent and objective organization responsible for audit, investigation, and other inspection services related to programs and operations of the Department. The IG provides leadership and coordination and recommends policies for activities designed to promote economy, efficiency, and effectiveness in the administration of programs and operations as well as to prevent and detect fraud and abuse in such programs and operations. The IG is the principal advisor to the Secretary of the Department on the above matters and is responsible for keeping the Secretary and Congress fully and currently informed about problems and deficiencies relating to the administration of the Department's programs and operations and the necessity for and progress of corrective action.

Investigative Services (IS) is responsible for all investigative activities relating to the Department's programs and operations and the prevention and detection of fraud and abuse in these programs and operations. IS also conducts, supervises, and coordinates investigations of suspected fraudulent activity by Departmental employees. Investigation Service is responsible for establishing the necessary procedures for coordination with the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) on all criminal matters dealing with the Department's programs and operations.

The incumbent plans and conducts complex and sensitive investigations that may extend across several states. Investigations involve allegations of suspected violations of criminal statutes as they relate to fraud or corruption in various Department of Education programs. The allegations investigated usually involve matters of substantial delicacy involving individuals or institutions of prominence in a community or high officials in state or other Government positions.

MEDICAL REQUIREMENT: The duties of positions in this series require moderate arduous physical exertion involving walking and standing, use of firearms, and exposure to inclement weather. Manual dexterity with comparatively free motion of finger, wrist, elbow, shoulder, hip, and knee joints is required. Arms, hands, legs, feet must be sufficiently intact and functioning in order that applicants may perform the duties satisfactorily. Applicant must be able to pass an Audiometer test. Hearing loss exceeding a 30-decibel average in either ear in the conversational and speech range (500, 1000, 2000 cycles) is disqualifying. If selected as the Assistant Special Agent in Charge (ASAC), your responsibilities would include enforcement and administrative activities within the Trenton Field Office under the Investigations Division. Work assignments include, but are not limited to:

• Provides leadership to subordinate criminal Investigators and other staff by establishing guidelines and performance expectations by setting priorities and prepares schedules for completion of work.
• Reviews and evaluates allegations and recommends appropriate investigative activity by providing on-site executive direction to ensure that the policies and procedures of the OIG are adhered to and that the evaluation activities are carried out in the most efficient and effective manner.
• Reviews and critiques all investigative reports and exhibits and then submits reports for review and coordinates the investigative findings with the SAC and prosecutive officials.

Duties for the Supervisory Program Manager GS-0340-15 within the Office of the Chief Data Officer (OCDO), Office of Management and Policy (OMP), Office of Inspector General (OIG), Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) include but not limited to:

• The Director of Data Analytics is responsible for providing strategic leadership, setting the division's goals, and developing a clear vision for using data analytics to enhance program integrity and support HHS OIG's mission. This includes identifying key areas where analytics can help prevent fraud, waste, and abuse, and establishing priorities to improve oversight through data-driven decision-making. The director manages the design and execution of scalable and automated analytics methodologies, integrating tools like predictive modeling and machine learning to monitor healthcare programs for risks.

• Leads and mentors a team of analysts and subordinate supervisors (Assistant Directors) to put data at the fingertips of OIG staff. Interfaces with OIG component executives and regional leadership to ensure quality and level of services needed are being met. Ensures continuous professional development of the team, fostering a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, experimentation, and collaboration

• Assigns tasks; manages budgets; reviews contracting statements of work, contract deliverables, statutes, policies, presentation materials, market research, analytical proposals; engages with managers and staff from OIG components, States, and Federal partners. This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Office of Inspector General (OIG), Office of Audits. The OIG conducts and supervises independent audits, investigations, and inspections of the programs and operations of DHS, and recommends ways for DHS to carry out its responsibilities in the most effective, efficient, and economical manner possible. The OIG also seeks to deter, identify, and address fraud, abuse, mismanagement, and waste of taxpayer funds invested in Homeland Security.

The Office of Audits oversees financial and performance audits, as well as attestation engagements. These audits cover multiple functional and program areas, such as financial statements, cyber security, acquisitions, grants, critical infrastructure, disasters, law enforcement and terrorism, immigration, and transportation security. Auditors examine DHS programs or activities in a formalized, detailed, and in-depth way. Duties and assignments may involve new or controversial issues, shaping major programs, compliance with new legislation, or facilitating the resolution of long-standing problem areas of vital importance to DHS. This position serves as an Audit Director over a program and audit team consisting of auditors and analysts responsible for planning and conducting program audits of DHS programs, functions, and operations.

The incumbent will serve as an Audit Director responsible for planning, managing, directing, coordinating, and overseeing all activities for multiple, simultaneous audits through a subordinate staff of first line supervisory auditors and program analysts.
Typical work assignments include:

- Serving as a technical expert in a wide variety of agency audit management functions.

• Conducts research and completes purchase requests for supplies/equipment for multiple Resident Agencies. Serves as a Government Purchase Card cardholder for the field office, maintaining records of all procurement actions and ensuring compliance.
• Serves as the office property custodian for multiple Resident Agencies; inventories accountable property and equipment; disposes of excess property; conducts annual accountable property inspections.
• Supports the AO with managing the field office GOV fleet, including assisting multiple Resident Agencies with ordering new and replacement GOVs, manage license plate registrations/renewals, monitoring preventative maintenance and service requests.
• Monitors staff compliance with mandatory training requirements and reports any delinquencies to the AO or supervisor. Ensures that training records and files are maintained, updated, and retired according to applicable record retention schedules.
• Assists the AO with field office staffing actions, including onboarding, promotion and departure requests and helps maintain field office personnel rosters, emergency contact lists and duty agent rosters.
