The team

The FOMMA plays a vital role in improving the effectiveness and efficiency of our maintenance programme delivery, assuring compliance and safety in our operations. In this role you will:

The team

Pathogens evolve and can cause outbreaks, as played out by the current COVID-19 pandemic. A key challenge in public health management is to be proactive in disease surveillance and detection, and to keep up to speed with evolving pathogens. You will be working in a multi-disciplinary environment, where your research is translated into evidence-based public health programmes and policies. You will be expected to lead a dynamic team that works closely with a network of local and international collaborators to shape the field-to-laboratory preparedness and response programme for biological agents. You will be involved in leading various activities including, but not limited to, experimental design, work process enhancement, sample preparation and assay development, and its necessary procurement efforts. You are also expected to publish findings in scientific journals, and present at major scientific meetings. • Maintaining and repairing watercourse and flood defence assets

You will be joining the Middle Lee Team based at our Amwell depot in Ware. We are seeking an individual to join the PFAS Pan-Area Team within the Environment Agency’s Waste Industry and Regulatory Services (WIRS), part of Environment Regulation and Markets (EM&R).

Our evidence shows a widespread presence of PFAS in the water environment. We have an evolving knowledge of potential sources, their fate, behaviour, and toxicological effects and are developing integrated regulatory approaches.

This specialist, technical role focuses on the investigation of the sources of PFAS, their impact on surface and groundwater quality, and the regulatory approaches needed to reduce environmental risk. This will be achieved through undertaking PFAS catchment assessments, investigating PFAS priority sites and PFAS releases to the environment.

You will also provide expert regulatory support and advice to Area based colleagues, including during incidents.

As part of this technical team, you will provide training and coaching to improve awareness and understanding of PFAS risks to operational teams. You will drive collaborative working and deliver targeted and informative communications.

• Manage the daily operations and maintenance of the building facilities, Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) systems, daily conservancy and landscaping work of Mandai Crematorium & Columbarium, Yishun Columbarium and Kranji State Cemetery.

• Manage the maintenance and repair of buildings to ensure a safe, functional, and aesthetically pleasing environment for staff and visitors.

• Manage the procurement and contract management of building maintenance, conservancy and landscaping, to ensure high-quality and cost-effective services.

• Coordinate and supervise officers and contractors to ensure efficient and effective operations.

• Implement energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives to reduce carbon footprint.

• Implement and monitor compliance with safety, health, and environmental regulations and standards to maintain a secure and sustainable facility environment.

• Plan and execute work improvement projects such as periodic / cyclical Repair & Redecoration work, structural maintenance and related work

• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand and address facility-related needs and support organisational goals.

• Handle and manage feedback.

We are looking for resourceful and service-oriented individual to join the Operations & Facilities Management Department which oversees the operation and maintenance of Government cemeteries, crematoria and columbaria. You will be stationed at a crematorium at Mandai and will play a key role in providing after-death care services.

Your job responsibilities include:

• Supervise a team of Officers in ensuring the cremation ceremony and process are carried out smoothly and efficiently
• Supervise a team of Assistant Executives to carry out their cremation duties at service halls smoothly
• Manage enquiries and provide assistance to the public to ensure that sufficient support and assistance are provided to help them go through the cremation service and ash collection process effectively
• Plan and coordinate daily operations and maintenance (preventive and breakdown) of the cremators
• Administration of the cremator term contract, including seeking approval, raising Purchase Orders/Works Orders, carrying out inspections and verification of work done
• Perform administration work such as duty roster preparation, attendance record keeping, etc.
• Monitor the consumption of gas/electricity by the cremators
• Assist supervisor to carry out periodic review of work procedures and conduct briefings to staff on revised procedures
• Assist with Officers’ duties including the ash collection work when necessary
• Operate the coffin trolley to transport caskets to designated area before and after cremation ceremonies when necessary
• Perform other duties assigned by supervisor
