026102 Supply Chain Sourcing Intern (Open)
Job Description:
This internship falls within Greif’s Global Supply Chain (GSC) North America team.
Greif has a substantial spend in indirect materials and services. Our indirect spend sourcing team identify spend management initiatives and execute sourcing events across our manufacturing facilities to ensure goods and services are procured in a competitive manner that maximizes value to Greif.
Key drivers of value include:
leveraging our buying power and spend across categories, regions and suppliers to drive down the total cost of ownership (TCO) reducing complexity to consolidate spend through SKU/supplier rationalization driving compliance through well-defined and managed agreements with preferred suppliers monitor consumption of supplies to minimize waste
The team has a mandate to increase spend exercised in the market, increase time-to-value for the business and develop contracts that protect Greif’s interests.
Through this internship, Greif is excited to offer unique, high-value projects that require collaboration and engagement with key stakeholders to solve complex challenges. We expect the intern to gain real-world business and professional skills by working closely under the guidance of seasoned sourcing professionals. The intern will develop a working knowledge and comprehensive understanding of the overall supply chain and sourcing processes at Greif along with an understanding of how the supply chain function integrates within the wider Greif organization.
Key activities:
Analyzing spend and market information for supplier RFQ’s aligned with the Sourcing 7-Step Process
Engage with Greif end-users to understand product or services specifications and/or applications
Collaborate with sourcing team to develop Request for Information (RFI) or Request for Proposal (RFP) using Greif’s ERP tools
Learn price negotiation and contracting term negotiation from members of the Sourcing team
Support special projects and process improvement initiatives
Ensure quality and timeliness in the delivery of tasks and services assigned, and make recommendations on next steps in a process or deliverable
Education and Experience
- Typically working towards a Bachelor's degree in related field.
Knowledge and Skills
- Possesses some knowledge of the Sourcing function related to the position.
- Takes initiative and is intellectually curious.
- Demonstrates effective written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrates ability to work collaboratively with others as part of a team.
