- Review preparedness actions and operating plans used in the management of wildland fires.
- Coordinate operations with cooperating agencies on multi-jurisdictional wildland fires addressing risk to human safety and potential for damage to resources and improvements.
- Assist with all phases of the fire management program and may be responsible for its planning, program direction, coordination and evaluation.
- Provides advice and guidance to the unit agency administrator.
- Facilitates collaboration for the development of local/annual operating plans and provides staff technical direction in the execution of master plans throughout the organization.
- Ensure that the fuels management program is consistent with ecosystem management principles and land use plans and is applied on a landscape basis.
- Analyze fire management plans and initiate changes or make recommendations.
- Provide advice and guidance in the implementation of policies and standards.
- Assign and review work on a regular basis, assuring that production and accuracy requirements are met.
- Plan work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets and adjusts priorities.
- Evaluate work performance of subordinates.
