Randstad has been given the exclusive opportunity to recruit for a Depot & Workshop Supervisor for our clients located in the Western Suburbs of Melbourne. You would be joining a business that is Australia wide and well established, operating for 30+ years!
This business designs, manufactures and delivers high-quality equipment that is then supported by the Depot team.
This role will see you managing a team of 6-8 indisviduals, taking responsibility for all daily activities and all-round safety. You will be someone who is excited about leading people, happy to jump in and be hands on when needed whilst also switch to administration duties when required.
YOUR DAY TO DAY:

Reporting directly to the Depot Manager you will be managing a team of 6-8 including container repairers, forklift operators, depot hands etc
Assists the Depot Manager with safety meetings, toolbox and audits
Leadership and coaching (technical advice and assistance) of the workshop team
Be visible in the yard and workshop ensuring safe operations at all times
Equip, organise and staff the Depot at all times to meet the demand of the market place and those of specific clients in terms of operations, finance, administration and risk
Align the Depot business plan to ensure the delivery of quality services
Ensure the operational systems are established, functioning and maintained
Ensure that profit levels are maximised by efficient workshop performance and labour placement
Resolve problems associated with work health and safety and develop/assist with strategies to avoid or minimise problems.
Understand and follow workplace safety initiatives, identify hazards and contribute to a safe working environment, as well as follow procedures to manage and minimise risks within the workshop/depot.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING:

Previous experience as a supervisor or team leader in a manufacturing/depot environment (At least 3-5 years)
Experience focusing and actioning safety & safe work practices
Intermediate Computer Literacy Skills (including MS Office Suite)
Trade qualification (i.e. Boilermaker) is desirable
A current driver's licence is required
Forklift licence is highly desirable
Confined space and working at heights (can be obtained post employment)
First Aid (can be obtained post employment)

ABOUT THE ROLE

Monitor and validate critical control points to ensure compliance with quality standards.
Arrange and coordinate micro testing through external laboratories, ensuring timely and accurate results.
Maintain comprehensive records of monitoring activities and take appropriate actions when necessary.
Schedule and arrange equipment calibration to ensure accurate and reliable measurements.
Manage allergen controls and conduct verification activities to prevent cross-contamination risks.
Prepare, review, and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in accordance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
Monitor the implementation of SOPs and identify areas for improvement.
Participate in internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and supporting the audit process.
Inspect the facility to ensure a high level of cleanliness is maintained to meet food safety requirements.
Assure ongoing compliance with quality and food safety regulatory requirements.
Inspect equipment to meet quality control standards.
Set up cleaning standards for the plant and equipment and monitor compliance.
Provide recommendations on procedures, standards, and equipment to maintain product quality.
Ensure the correct quality process is followed and provide training as necessary.
Assist the Production Supervisor with hands-on operational activities when needed to meet production requirements.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING

Ideally 5+ years of experience within a similar role
Bachelor's degree preferably in Food Technology, Food Science
Strong understanding of QA processes in the food industry
Food Safety Training in HACCP and GMP
Self-motivated with proven leadership skills.
Process Implementation & Improvement: Experience implementing company process or policy, ability to actively identify and develop improvements
Prior experience in food environment
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suit

Identify the need and support the creation of procedure and policies to improve safety in the team

ABOUT YOU:

Experience within the Manufacturing Industry is essential, ideally within Heavy Manufacturing
Prior experience within Safety and/or Quality is required
Engineering qualification is highly regarded
Knowledge of systems management requirements ISO 9001 & ISO 45001
Knowledge and prior use of Microsoft 365 is highly preferred
Knowledge and prior use of Power Apps are highly desirable
Root Cause Analysis experience
Risk Assessment training

ABOUT YOU:

Qualification in Mechanical Engineering is essential
SolidWorks Certification is essential
5+ years in Heavy Manufacturing (Road/ Transport)- Ideally in the tanker manufacturing industry
Aviation experience/petroleum tanker manufacturing experience highly desirable
Knowledge of pipework, structural steel, pumping systems, pneumatics, hydraulics and automotive electrics.
