Summary:
This position supports Quality Assurance (QA) and Animal Welfare (AW) programs that ensure products are produced in a safe and humane manner. The primary focus is on ensuring quality product for our internal and external customers, disease prevention, and proper animal care and handling throughout the supply chain.
Essential duties:
- Facilitating training programs to ensure Cobb team members and contract growers understand company best practices and industry standards related to QA and AW. Training is conducted on a regular schedule and may include new hire onboarding.
- Assisting with the development of updated/new training courses and materials.
- Conducting various QA and AW audits that ensure compliance with company best practices and industry standards. Audits are conducted on a regular schedule. The specialist will document outcomes and collaborate with local and corporate leadership to create action plans for improvement.
- Assisting with the development of new and improved audit protocols, forms, and resources.
- Conducting investigations related to breaches in biosecurity or animal handling protocols. The specialist will present summary findings and recommend appropriate courses of action.
- Analyzing trends and serving as the local subject matter expert for assigned region for implementation of company standards for QA and AW.
- Assisting with special projects inside and outside the department as assigned.
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent experience can be substituted for degree.
- Experience: 3+ years’ experience in QA, AW or related field required. Experience facilitating and/or creating training and/or audit protocols preferred.
- Computer Skills: Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word). Must be able to learn new applications and technologies as needed.
- Communication: Must be highly-skilled with both written and verbal communication. Must be able to create presentations that are compelling and enable decision-making. Must be able to communicate to all levels of the organizations, from front-line workers to senior leaders.
- Travel: Required to travel to all facilities within a designated area within continental US. Some overnight travel required. Some international travel may be required to Cobb Business Units.
- Supervisory Responsibility: None.
- Special Skills: Action oriented, attention to detail, decision quality, ethics and values, integrity and trust, negotiating, organizing, peer relationships, perseverance, planning, presentation skills, priority setting, problem solving, process management, technical learning, time management. PAACO poultry welfare certification will be required (training courses will be provided if applicant is not certified).
- Biosecurity Requirements: When visiting Cobb biosecure facilities showering is required before entering. Appropriate clothing and footwear is provided by the Company. No jewelry may be worn on the jobsites except for medical ID jewelry. Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid any avian species, such as chickens, turkeys, ducks, and all other birds. The Company Biosecurity and Animal Welfare Policies must be followed at all times.
- Physical Requirements: Must use safe lifting techniques. While performing the duties of this job the team member is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, and use hands to and fingers to handle or feel objects tools or controls; reach with hands and arms balance stoop talk or hear. The team member must occasionally lift and or move up to 25 pounds.
- Personal Protective Equipment Required: When visiting Cobb biosecure facilities it is expected to follow the required safety procedures and wear the required personal protective equipment provided by the company.
