We seek a dedicated individual who will be responsible for performing various mechanical, maintenance, and repair work including the inspection and maintenance work required for rotating machinery and equipment used for accepting and processing waste and recyclables. The Tire Technician will be required to inspect, adjust, repair, or modify the mechanics of various rolling stock and facility machinery, including but not limited to wheel loaders, dozers, yard tractors, trucks, walking floor trailers, intermodal containers, and compactors.
Responsibilities will include:
- The inspection and maintenance work required for rotating machinery and equipment.
- Inspect and adjust, as necessary, the mechanical alignment, balance, level and general condition of rotating equipment throughout the division
- Perform preventative maintenance tasks by inspecting rims and tires daily
- Use various shop equipment in the performance of his/her assigned tasks
- Read and interpret measuring tools, graphs and technical manuals
- Follow all health and safety rules and regulations mandated by law and per the policies and procedures
Position Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required. Maintenance mechanic school/Diesel school preferred.
- Driver’s license required, CDL a plus
- Minimum 1 year experience as Tire Tech or mechanic
- Must have thorough knowledge and experience with but not limited to tire repair, maintenance, rim maintenance/repair/inspection, etc.
- Must be able to work independently and with others
- Must support teamwork by participating, cooperating, and communicating with co-workers
- Must be able to effectively communicate with co-workers by providing accurate, meaningful, courteous and timely responses to their questions or concerns
Physical Demands
- On a frequent basis, the Maintenance technicians must use a variety of hand tools throughout the day to perform duties
- On a frequent basis, the Maintenance technicians the employee may be required to lift equipment/parts
- On an occasional basis, Maintenance technicians is required to lift a tire/rim or part that may be in excess of 50 lbs.
The expected hourly pay rate for this position is $22.00.
This is a good-faith estimate of what we expect to pay for this position. The final salary figure will take into account a variety of factors including experience, ability and location. Covanta is committed to paying its staff equitably, and these ranges should not be considered career salary limits or caps.
