JOB SUMMARY:
Under general supervision, the Adjunct-Fire Science coordinates and instructs Fire Science academic courses.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepares, instructs and grades class coursework.
- Assigns final grades.
- Serves as a liaison and resource to the fire service community and public-school systems of the service district.
- integrates computer software and technology-based instruction appropriately.
- Maintains a safe and effective classroom environment.
- Participates in department, division, and adjunct faculty meetings.
- Completes all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- Master's degree with a major in a related field. or Master’s Degree and 18 graduate semester hours in a related field;
- Must be a public speaker with excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Must possess strong interpersonal and organizational skills;
- Experience with Microsoft Office and Windows based applications.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
This position requires an ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, reach up, stoop ability to participate in physical activities related to firefighting, the ability to lift an object of fifty (50) pounds or less, and carry items in excess of fifty (50) pounds. It also requires manual dexterity to operate Firefighting equipment, standard office machines, such as, copier, fax, calculator, telephone, and other equipment as necessary. IRSC expects its employees to follow proper safety standards while employed by the College.

The salary for this position ranges from Bachelor – Clock hour - $20.25; Credit – $536.00; Master – Clock hour $22.10; Credit - $597.00; Doctorate or equivalent – Clock hour -$24.85; Credit $669.00 | Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience and education | Adjunct positions are hired on an as needed basis.
