Role Summary
You will be responsible for delivering engaging and insightful seminars and workshops that

The Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust’s Hepatology Clinical Research Facility (CRF) for clinical research and investigation is based on the 10thFloor of the Queen Elizabeth Queen Mother Wing at St Mary’s Campus and provides a state of the art, designated area for hepatology academics and hepatology clinicians to perform clinical research projects involving both patients with liver conditions and healthy volunteers.

The postwill specifically help Principal Investigators and the research nursing team with patient recruitment into commercially sponsored clinical drug trials (alcohol, hepatitis, and fatty liver) and the ongoing management of patients according to the study protocols.

In undertaking this role, the Clinical Research Fellow will gain experience in the management of clinical trials and novel therapeutics in chronic liver disease.

The post is initially for 6 months, but will be renewable, and is suitable for a junior grade doctor (FY2 – FY5) who has a minimum of 1 year’s post registration, recent experience of working in the NHS in a medical post, and who is looking to learn and develop clinical research skills.GMC registration and licence to practice are essential.

· Support the timely delivery of clinical studies, in-line with the requirements of sponsors, GCP (Good Clinical Practice), and other appropriate guidelines and regulations

· Provide medical assessment and cover for selected studies in the Hepatology CRF working alongside other clinical teams

The Women’s Health Research Centre (WHRC) at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust / Imperial College London is at the forefront of research aimed at improving outcomes and experiences in women's reproductive health and childbirth.

At the current time, WHRC is looking to appoint a Clinical Research Assistant Practitioner to work on the Generation Study which is sponsored by Genomics England. The study focuses on screening neonates for approximately 200 rare conditions at birth using umbilical cord blood. We have an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Research Midwife at Homerton Healthcare.

The post holder will promote clinical trials at Homerton Healthcare, acting as a resource for Midwifery and Reproductive Health regarding current and future clinical trials. This will involve establishing study feasibility, pre- trial set up, recruitment of participants, education and monitoring of research patients and the collection and documentation of accurate data.

In this role you will be a member of the maternity research team under the Research and Innovations team at Homerton Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. You will be working as a Band 6 Clinical Research Midwife. You will be responsible for assessing and managing the care pathways for patients and carers participating in research.

The post holder will be responsible for the set-up, maintenance, and close down clinical trials in accordance with local, national and international legislation. You will lead studies to assess patients’ suitability, ensuring informed consent is obtained; co-ordinate the logistics for patient visits and undertake patient assessments in accordance with study protocol. The aim of the role of the Band 7 Senior Research Midwife/Nurse is to manage and enhance the overall delivery of clinical research within the Trust by providing support and management to the existing Research team, by assisting with clinical and administrative activities related to clinical trials, from initiation to termination, in accordance with ICH Good Clinical Practice guidelines.

The post holder will assist with the set-up, maintenance, and close down of clinical studies, in accordance with local and legislation within various clinical areas. The post will include assessing patients’ suitability to participate in research and innovation projects, ensuring informed consent is obtained; coordinating the logistics for patient visits and undertaking patient assessments in accordance with study protocol. All data will be recorded, including adverse and serious adverse events, in accordance with ICH-GCP. The post holder will work primarily on the Reproductive Health and Gynaecology portfolio, but may also be expected to cross cover other areas of demand.

Reporting to the head of R&I, a talented individual is sought to oversee and grow the Reproductive Health and Gynaecology research portfolio and bring their skills and knowledge to the frontline to support and recruit our volunteer participants, and in turn monitor and support their research journey. The post holder will maintain high standards of clinical professional practice in relation to the healthcare of our participants.

Coordinate and manage IG operations in support of research, keeping the Head of IG, the Director for Research, and the Chief Operating Officer for INSIGHT apprised of outcomes and escalating issues as appropriate. Provide expert and specialist IG advice and expertise on health research and related data access initiatives, developing high-quality, user-friendly and accurate guidance in a range of formats. Provide expertise and advice on research management and proposals (grant applications), including research ethics and data sharing/licensing and/or service agreements involving personal data, liaising with the Head of IG and Moorfields General Counsel where appropriate. Manage information asset accession and information security reviews relating to research proposals, including Information risk assessments, data protection impact assessments for new and existing research systems/processes/projects involving processing of data, ensuring that proposals are compliant and in the required format for approval. Ensure research related policies, procedures and guidelines are compliant with data protection legislation and are implemented effectively and efficiently across the research function. Assess and report on the discharge of procedures and processes to identify gaps in current practice, and where required make recommendations. Work with the managers and principle investigators to ensure the maintenance of their entries to the information asset register. Develop and provide tailored IG training and guidance for research colleagues. Investigate and report on IG complaints and incidents in line with Trust policy as required, particularly where they are linked to research. Coordinate, develop and review appropriate information-sharing protocols that provide clarity of purpose and enable streamlining of information disclosure routes. Ensure the Trust is compliant with legislative requirement for data sharing or licensing. Support research leadership with the production of IG related data and reports, including for Moorfields Research Management Committee, Research Governance Committee, and for HDRUK purposes. Provide input to the Trusts IG and corporate risk registers and reporting requirements. Manage the NHS Data Security and Protection Toolkit (DSPT) activity, including the collation and provision of evidence, and coordination of returns. Assist with DPA requests relating to research (including requests that overlap between the DPA and the FoIA) and respond to DPA complaints where necessary. To assist the Head of IG with IG Departmental work planning. This includes planning and coordinating specialist project advice and technical support, planning and coordinating specialist advice and guidance. There is an expectation that the postholder may be responsible for contractors/consultants hired to undertake a discrete piece of service work, and/or agency temporary staff. Monitor and support internal and management audit of research processes to identify IG gaps or weaknesses in current practices or systems. Ensure all recommendations are implemented to deliver an improvement in the research function delivery. Provide leadership for, and the IG element of research governance groups, ensuring terms of references are up to date and aligned with other governance structures at the Trust Manage, support and develop the Information Compliance Officer. Attend external Information Governance and Research Forums to develop strong and productive relationships with Information Governance leads in other NHS organisations and with wider stakeholders and to help influence the national policy agenda on Information Governance.
