RESPONSIBILITIES
This is an exciting opportunity for a colleague with a teaching background in Secondary education and an experienced Mathematics teacher to join a growing, boutique school in the heart of Singapore. The successful applicant will be expected to teach Mathematics from ages 11 to 18. They will have outstanding subject knowledge and have the ability to enthuse and inspire students, maximizing achievement and progress at all levels. The school offers both IGCSE and International A-Level Mathematics. There may also be an opportunity for a whole school leadership position for a suitable qualified and experienced candidate.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage a lively, enthusiastic, orderly and safe learning environment.
Deliver the Mathematics curriculum to assigned classes in accordance with the School's timetable.
Differentiate lessons according to the abilities and learning needs of individual students.
Promote independent learning by adopting teaching and learning strategies which develop the competence and confidence of every student.
Ensure the thorough implementation of subject specifications (Inclusive of IGCSE and International A Level), teaching schemes, assessment policies and reporting procedures.
Assess and develop the Mathematics curriculum in the school
Plan and deliver schemes of work, including the choice of appropriate teaching and learning methods to meet the needs of the subject, and of different students.
Keep abreast of current developments in Mathematics education and to adapt the curriculum content and methods of teaching and examining as appropriate.
Identifying appropriate resources within the limits of the school budget.
Ensure health and safety policies are followed within the Mathematics classrooms.
Ensure that the Mathematics rooms present stimulating environments, which help to influence students' attitudes positively towards the subject.
Ensure students' work is regularly assessed and that homework is in line with school policy.
Report to parents in accordance with the school's reporting policy.
Use information gained from assessment, recording and reporting procedures to generate further improvement in student achievement.
When required, take on a form tutor role in the Senior School and fulfill the responsibilities of that position.
Follow the School's policies and procedures with regard to discipline and behaviour, daily routines, duties, homework, leave of absence and visits.
Contribute to co-curricular activities that broaden students' experiences and contribute to the general life of the school.
Promote the study of Mathematics amongst students and parents.
Attend and contribute to meetings of a professional nature.
Maintain appropriate links with teaching colleagues in all sections of the school and foster cross-curricular links where appropriate.
Liaise with members of the Inclusive Education Team with regard to individual students, to ensure that those needs are understood, planned for and met.
Develop effective links with the wider community, in order to extend the study of Mathematics and enhance teaching and learning.
QUALIFICATIONS
- At least 2 5 years relevant professional teaching experience in early childhood;
- The candidate should hold a minimum of a Bachelor Degree in Mathematics or Education or equivalent, which is obtained from a recognised University or College involving not less than 3 years full time study;
- Teachers Certificates, Diplomas or other Teacher Accreditation courses and certification are required if the applicant's degree is not in Education;
- Knowledge of or willingness to acquire knowledge of inquiry based learning is required;
- Applicants must provide original copies of their Certificates and academic transcripts for authentication;
- International experience, especially in Asia is highly regarded.
