This position provides facility maintenance and administrative support to staff within a region.  Work closely with Sales and Sales Support teams to ensure accurate files are maintained, materials are prepared and sent on time, mail is distributed on a timely basis, and office facilities are professionally maintained.

• Manage RGO General Email Box for RFPs, RGO Intake, Experience Reports, AOR changes, and Renewal Requests

The Sales Analyst’s primary accountability is to act as the designated field resource to support Sales Executives and the Client Management team in the 2-1,999 market. They are accountable for following all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the RFP and New Business/Add Issue submission processes. A successful Sales Analyst must demonstrate strong product / business knowledge, collaboration / communication skills, project management and the ability to perform tasks using technology and systems utilized within Guardian (Outlook, Salesforce, CPS, Excel, Adobe, SharePoint, Access, etc.). The position must balance the needs of the clients with those of the business and respond to customer inquiries with the objective of selling new business, ensuring that client satisfaction, accuracy, competitiveness, and profitability are achieved. Additional major responsibilities include negotiations with Underwriters, effective collaboration with Sales Executives and other team members, and managing the requoting of proposals as needed to help generate sales.

You Will:

Perform duties associated with Inventory Management, RFP processing, and new business/add issue submissions. Position works closely with Sales Executives, Client Management, Rating, Underwriting, Onboarding, and Producers /Assistants to ensure that information required for releasing a competitive quote and submitting new business is received and processed accurately and in a timely manner. 

• Manage RFP Inventory and Quote Process including:
  • reviewing RFP data, discerning what has been received and identifying what is needed to underwrite and release a quote,
  • Partnering with Rating and Quoting to ensure proposals are on track to meet due dates
  • Meeting with team to review inventory status
• Make recommendations regarding benefit / rate options based on analysis of RFP and assessment of customer’s buying triggers through consultative interactions with Sales Executives and customers. 
• Engage key internal stakeholders needed to put together a comprehensive proposal strategy (i.e. dental recruitment, BenTech, Worksite, Enrollment)
• Independently, or in collaboration with Sales Executives:
  • Meet with Underwriting to negotiate rates, exceptions, and approvals; 
  • Discuss RFP, plan design options, and multi-line options with Producers and their assistants,
  • Build strong relationships with underwriting, brokers, and their staff to ensure that customer needs are met while maintaining profitability and acceptable risk.
• Proactively contact Producers / Assistants to follow up on quotes to gauge competitiveness and/or gather post-mortem data.
• If Guardian is awarded the business, work closely with Sales Executive/Underwriter to finalize sold quote and initiate Onboarding process following SOP.
• Handoff and transition case from sales to Onboarding.
• Provide backup support to colleagues as needed.
• Serve as Subject Matter Expert on various Guardian systems and procedures.

You Have:

• BA or BS degree preferred
• 1-3 years of group insurance experience processing RFP preferred
• Knowledge of group insurance, products, and services
• Knowledge of underwriting principles and practices
• Demonstrated success in servicing customers (Producers / Assistants / Planholders)
• Experience working with and addressing the needs of field sales organization in a highly dynamic, fast-paced environment

Location Requirements

• The primary location for this position will be the Chicago Regional Group Office with a hybrid work arrangement (two days per week in office, and three days per week working from home).

Line of Business Overview

The US Diversified group within the Corporate Bank underwrites and manages the firm’s large corporate (public and private) syndicated loan portfolio across Industrials, FC&R, Technology and Business Services sectors.  The team supports both our product and coverage partners by allocating capital to revolver, term loans, and ancillary business products. The team is responsible for all aspects of underwriting and manages the credit and Corporate Banking coverage (i.e. relationship management) post deal closing.

Job description

The Analyst will serve as a key member of the deal team in the underwriting, credit approval, and portfolio management; supporting the deal team by analyzing financial and operating data for trends in financial performance of companies and industries.  The Analyst will be involved in the initial screening of transactions, due diligence, credit approval, and negotiation of legal documentation. The Analyst will help assess BMO’s hold appetite across revolvers and term loans. Experienced Analysts will participate in client pitches to help support cross-selling opportunities for hedging and other traditional corporate banking products.

Primary Function and Responsibilities

New Underwritings

• Use independent critical thinking skills to analyze historical financial performance, create Base/Stress case financial projection models, develop risks and mitigants, business strengths, and credit rationale for completing a transaction
• Work across groups to compile diligence lists and lead diligence calls with company management teams and other lenders
• Complete risk / return models for new deals
• Collaborate with colleagues on different teams (Leveraged Finance, Investment Banking Industry Coverage, Ancillary Product groups) on materials for committee meetings attended by senior leaders across the bank
• Address questions from the Investment Committee and Credit team to support new transactions

Portfolio Management

• Review and monitor Borrowers’ financial statements for potential changes which may affect the Borrower’s performance through detailed review of quarterly financial statements, participation in quarterly lender calls, and ongoing dialogue with management teams
• Prepare concise credit analysis and other correspondence on a quarterly basis for certain Borrowers, and on an annual basis for all Borrowers
• Assess Borrowers’ internal risk rating on a regular basis based on their financial performance and changes to the qualitative aspects of the business
• Evaluate opportunities for new business (ancillary products such as FX and interest rate hedging and cash management) with existing Borrowers
• Conduct analysis and comprehensive review of industry trends and comparable transactions in the industry

Relationship Management

• Assist in the preparation of pitch materials for client meetings and cross-sell of corporate banking products
• Experienced analysts will participate in client pitches to help support cross-selling opportunities for hedging and other traditional corporate banking products

Education/Professional Experience

• An undergraduate degree with academic coursework in finance, economics, or accounting and an outstanding academic achievement
• 1 - 3 years of relevant experience within investment banking, corporate banking, corporate credit, commercial banking or capital markets
• Completion of a financial analysis credit training program preferable

Corporate Banking Overview:

The CB Summer Analyst program is designed for candidates between their second and third year of an undergraduate school. The Associate will be responsible for supporting the origination and structuring for Global Markets commodities clients.  The portfolio will cover a diversified portfolio of Global Markets clients. This entails account management responsibility, as well as the ongoing independent monitoring of client portfolios and their performance in a proactive manner. • Research and analyze financial and operating performance relating to companies and industries.

• Prepare concise, accurate and well-reasoned written credit applications and memoranda for both new and existing transactions, for presentation to Credit.

• Maintain current financial information on clients in order to perform timely annual reviews and trigger monitoring.

• Conduct credit risk analysis of transactions using all available sources of information including, but not limited to financial statements, ratings reports, legal documentation, etc.

• Monitor client, industry and regulations for potential changes which may affect client’s portfolio and business needs.
