About the Role


Bexley sees the potential for unprecedented levels of new development, including up to 31,500 new homes over the next few decades. Two of London’s Opportunity Areas fall within the borough, and this is a particularly exciting time for managing how Bexley’s huge development potential will be realised.

The Councils Building Control team deliver the statutory Building Control functions as well as dealing with the majority of the building regulations applications in the borough. The Building Control sector has experienced significant change following the Grenfell Enquiry and the introduction of the Building Safety Act. Bexley is well placed to meet these challenges with an ambitious service improvement plan which has ensured the successful registration of its building inspectors and continuing investment in staff and processes to further enhance professional standards and customer service.

In connection with this, the team requires two registered building inspectors to undertake restricted functions and restricted activities as appropriate to the level of their competency as well as other building control related activities as required. The Council will also offer the necessary supervision for activities outside current competency levels to ensure continuing professional development. You will help cultivate good working relationships with key internal and many external partners as well as offering excellent customer service.

Quality Engineer

In this role, you will monitor, plan, and improve business processes to enhance production output and product quality. You will introduce new processes and procedures, set quality standards, drive continuous improvements, and resolve problems. They can interpret engineering drawings and use required equipment to confirm inaccuracies is essential. Experience working with cross-functional teams is necessary, and experience in manufacturing in a high-value, low-volume setting is desirable.

Knowledge:

Essential knowledge includes the ability to read and understand technical drawings and complete FAIRs. A solid understanding of ISO standards, such as 9001 and/or AS9100, is required. Desirable knowledge includes an understanding of ISO 14001, 27001, and AS9100 standards, as well as lean principles. The ability to use a CMM (Coordinate-measuring machine) is also desirable.

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Quality Engineer to join a Quality Assurance team for our well-established client who is commitment to excellence & a leading manufacturer in based in Sandwich, Kent.

You will be responsible for introducing new processes and procedures, determining quality standards, driving continuous improvements, and resolving problems. You'll also be required to collaborate with the wider team to embed lean methodologies which involves challenging processes, equipment, and people to improve capability, reliability, and performance all whilst keeping the design and manufacturing process as effective and cost-efficient as possible.

Other areas of focus for the role includes the creation of acceptance test procedures, inspecting materials, equipment, processes, and products, developing quality control systems, maintaining the calibration system, conducting internal audits and determining corrective actions.

Due to the nature of the work all candidates must be eligible to obtain security clearance.

Main duties & responsibilities:

Monitor production processes and identify potential problems and malfunctions.

Participate in the validation of manufacturing and engineering processes including on the job training.

Resolve quality issues through the structured application of problem solving and root cause analysis techniques.

Complete First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs).

Monitor calibration system & ensure equipment is continually calibrated to schedule.

Support prototype, sample and controlled product change builds through pre-production and production cells.

Complete internal product and system audits, perform any necessary duties as an internal auditor.

Support supplier quality engineer or inspection during busy periods or times of absence.

Qualifications and Skills:

HNC/HND in engineering discipline or equivalent work experience

ISO 9001 or AS9100 Internal auditor

Minimum of 4 years of experience in quality engineering or a similar role.

Strong knowledge of risk management principles and practices.

Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and address quality issues in a timely manner.

Valid driving license.

Familiarity with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Positive attitude and a strong focus on teamwork.

Job Title: Quality Inspector / Quality Audit Inspector

I am looking for someone who is detail-orientated and passionate about quality, to ensure that all products meet the highest standards and customer specifications.

Salary: £27,500 per annum

Shift Patterns:

• Monday - Thursday, 8AM - 4:45PM
• Friday, 8AM - 12PM

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain and improve the Quality Management System (QMS).
• Ensure ISO 9001 compliance and accreditation.
• Conduct product tests and quality control checks.
• Investigate and resolve quality issues.
• Perform internal audits and document quality assessments.
• Work with technical drawings, including welding symbols and geometric tolerances.

Investigate quality issues and identify route causes as well as contributing to the implementation of corrective and preventive actions.

Conduct product and process auditing.

Support quality control activities such as part inspection, fault identification and stock sorting.

Support the introduction of new products into organisation including NPI gate reviews and associated quality team actions.

Support the introduction, management and release of NPI stock including rejected items.

Facilitate Continuous improvement (CI), New product introduction (NPI) and Engineering Change Request (ECR) Activities.

Monitor calibration system & ensure equipment is continually calibrated to schedule.

Qualifications and Skills:

NVQ/HNC/HND in engineering discipline or equivalent work experience

ISO 9001 or AS9100 Internal auditor

Minimum of 3 years of experience in quality inspection.

Ability to interpret engineering drawings and use required equipment to confirm inaccuracies.

Ability to self-inspect parts using manual measuring equipment, mircometers, verniers, calipers, gauges etc

Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and address quality issues in a timely manner.

Valid driving license.

Familiarity with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.
