Hunter’s Dream is now looking for an experienced Production Horticulture Supervisor to join their team.
The right candidate will be responsible for:
Supervising and training production staff;
Maintaining accurate records of crop production activities, including planting dates, input applications, harvest yields, quality assessments, and environmental conditions;
Developing production plans for cultivating various crops, including selecting appropriate plant varieties, scheduling planting and harvesting times, and managing crop rotations to optimize yields and quality;
Planning and coordinating harvest activities, including determining harvest readiness, scheduling labor, and ensuring proper handling and storage of harvested crops to maintain freshness, quality, and shelf life;
Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, including worker safety standards, pesticide handling protocols, and food safety requirements;
Developing production plans for cultivating various crops, including selecting appropriate plant varieties, scheduling planting and harvesting times, and managing crop rotations to optimize yields and quality;
Monitoring soil fertility levels and nutrient requirements of crops. Implementing fertilisation programs, including selecting appropriate fertilizers, applying nutrients at the right times and rates, and managing soil pH to promote optimal plant growth and health;
Propagating plants through methods such as seed sowing, vegetative cutting, grafting, or tissue culture to produce healthy seedlings or clones for transplanting into production systems;
Conducting regular quality assessments of crops to ensure they meet market standards for size, color, texture, flavor, and other attributes. Implementing quality control measures throughout the production process to minimize defects and maximize marketability;
Staying informed about new horticultural technologies, production techniques, crop varieties, and market trends;
Identify and report unusual disease or plant pest signs;
About you:
At least 2 years of experience as Production Horticulture Supervisor;
Proactive and supportive leadership approach when working with a team;
Ability to handle multiple tasks at the same time;
An agricultural / horticultural background
A proven record of skills and knowledge in agriculture/horticulture;
Have considerable experience, fundamental knowledge and skills in farm operation;
Trustworthy person who can be relied upon;
Enthusiastic, professional attitude and understanding of the objectives of the business;

Salary: $70,000 - $80,000
