Murphy is recruiting for a Planning Manager to work within Water on our United Utilities AMP8 Framework.

We provide end-to-end services for major water and sewage companies such as Thames Water, Severn Trent Water, Northern Ireland Water, Yorkshire Water and United Utilities, and for several water-only companies including SES Water, Bristol Water and South East Water.
We also provide a full design, build, operate and maintain service for Uisce Éireann and we currently operate over 25 of their facilities, ensuring they run efficiently and comply fully with EPA regulations.

A day in the life of a Murphy Planning Manager

The Role
As a Senior Planner, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. Preparing and maintaining integrated schedules of project and/or programme activities and events, taking into account of dependencies and resource requirement.

Day-to-day, you'll be responsible for applying schedule management independently primarily in complex situations across P3M:

• Develop / implement and maintain the Project structures (WBS / OBS / RBS / CBS).
• Develop / baseline and maintain the Project integrated schedule. (Level 1-3).
• Ensure alignment between the integrated scheduling toolset and the companies financial and material demand toolset. This includes alignment of any Level 4/5 schedules.
• Regular status update of the integrated schedule and the provision of metrics (e.g. critical path / total float) and schedule analysis of the impact to the project.
• Resource / cost loaded schedules to inform the IBP and also to provide financial status of the project.

This role is full time, 37 hours per week and requires regular travel to Warrington or Preston, on a weekly basis alongside home working arrangements.

Typical graduate roles consist of being part of a close knit Supply Chain/Quantity Surveyor team that provides assistance and support to not only the Commercial/Supply Chain area, but also the project team it forms part of. Supply Chain graduates follow a structured graduate scheme and receive the experience and training to enhance their career. A leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment is currently looking for a Logistic Planning Analyst for their site in Birchwood, Warrington. This is a 6 month contract with a potential to be extended. The position is paying £20.02 PAYE, £22.93 PAYE rolled up holiday pay and £26.24 Umbrella. The working hours are Monday to Friday 8:30 -17:00. The position is hybrid with weekly rotating days for working from home.

The Role

This role is essential in ensuring that lead time supplier schedules are acknowledged and managed into the business on time, in full and compliantly, as well as ensuring that all supplier arrears and customer back orders have relevant and up-to-date promise dates or robust action plans in place to recover. This role also requires timely action, responding to escalated customer requirements, managing internal and external expectations and challenging supplier performance. Typical responsibilities include;

• Ensure that all customer back orders have a relevant and up to date recovery/availability date
• Manage communication to the Customer Services group where a recovery date is not provided
• Report supplier adherence to processes surrounding order acknowledgements and ASN deliverables
• Manage output from our forecasting system, communicating firm requirements and negotiating schedule changes with the supplier
• Weekly & monthly analysis across the desk to identify and report on Supplier Performance failure:
• Use Tableau reporting to highlight account adherence to schedules by Suppliers
• Use output of Built In Quality process to drill down and provide root cause fix to reasons behind instances causing business grief on physical and invoice receipt
• Using Plan-Do-Check-Act method to formulate action plan / next steps for suppliers of focus

Requirements

• Previous work experience within a Supply Chain function
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
• Previous work experience and knowledge of SAP systems
• Previous work experience and good knowledge of EDI (Electronic Date Interchange) is desirable
• Knowledge of Lean methodology and 8 Wastes
