- Provide on-going assistance in the selection and development of health education methods and materials suited to specific groups and situations.
- Assists in the orientation of new personnel with respect to community characteristics; develops orientation material as prescribed in the IHS manual.
- Provides training assistance to Community Health Representatives on planned basis as well as seeks ways to give guidance to Community Health Representatives specific interests and areas of need.
- Provides supportive service to Service Unit staff (Medical, Dental, Nursing, Dietary, Administrative, Community Health Services, etc.) to develop the educational component of their respective program activities.
- Works with tribal leaders, tribal health and health related workers, public health and other agency staff in developing community health education activities in accord with program plans based on health needs and interests of the American Indian/Alaska Native people.
- Pin points educational opportunities in preventive and curative services in hospital and clinic settings, and works with other staff to realize such educational potential.
- Develops formal and informal training opportunities (Tribal groups, CHR's Auxiliary, students) intended to encourage involvement in community health planning.
- Assists in implementing a comprehensive school health program including a health education curriculum in local school districts.
