Autodesk's Technology Centres are dedicated spaces that empower teams to explore connected design and make workflows enabling industries to discover innovative solutions. Located in Birmingham UK, our centre is focused on working with teams across the Fusion platform business and wider Autodesk, to develop and validate new workflows, and inspire the future in our unique facility which has state-of-the-art equipment for CNC Milling, CNC Mill-Turn, Additive (metal and plastic), Robots and Hybrid manufacturing.
We are seeking a hands-on Technology Consulting Manager, to lead a team of talented and motivated engineers who provide advice and support across the organisation, from software engineering teams, software quality assurance, product management, user experience designers, product, and technical marketing teams. The role would suit someone who can balance being a manager whilst advocating for the Technology Centre internally and externally of Autodesk.
Responsibilities
- Lead and inspire a diverse team of manufacturing specialists. Remove roadblocks to allow the team to achieve important organisational accountabilities.
- Support, encourage and assist the members of the team. Use your experience to help them with both technical and non-technical challenges.
- Become an advocate for the Technology Centre, searching for ways to leverage its unique position ensuring maximum impact for Autodesk and its partners. Innovating on new ways the technology centre can add value to Autodesk.
- Be the spokesperson for the team and promote its accomplishments and struggles with management, stakeholders, and adjacent teams.
- Be a key driver in events held in the Technology Centre, coordinating the team to create and present engaging on machine demonstrations highlighting new technology.
- Maintain a competent level of technical expertise, to be hands-on and remain connected to manufacturing and software technologies, working with team members and the broader Autodesk technical community.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders in marketing to plan activities throughout the year highlighting new areas of development and important focus areas defined by GTM.
- Liaising with other teams to establish a validation strategy for the Technology Centre to ensure new functionality is certified prior to release.
- Have confidence to present the Autodesk vision to customers and partners.
- Foster a connection to product development and product management, ensuring the Technology Centre is relevant to the needs of the organisation.
Minimum qualifications
- BS – Engineering or Manufacturing is a typical qualification, but we are open to candidates who have the relevant industry experience.
- Formal or informal leadership experience – we'd like to see that you can inspire others, even if it was not in an official manager role.
- Good communication and presentation skills.
- 8+ years of manufacturing experience working in a technical environment.
- Experience in CAD, CAM, CNC machine tools, CNC controllers, NC code (G-code).
This is an office-based position to support in person, the running of the Technology Centre.
You will report to the Director of Technology Consulting for the Technology Centre.
