Team Leader. The WPB VA Medical Center has a designated role in the Geriatrics and Extended Care Service that serves as the Attending Physician and Medical Director of the Community Living Center (CLC). The incumbent provides clinical and administrative oversight of the CLC. They will also be a teaching faculty member in our Geriatrics Fellowship program. They will have the following duties and responsibilities:

• Assisting the physician in a variety of diagnostic examinations and must be able to receive instructions for difficult exams such as lumbar puncture, biopsies, colposcopies, LEEPs, intrauterine device placements, and pap smears.
• Positioning patient according to specific instructions from surgeon or primary care physician, drapes patient, preps and adjusts specialized equipment with multiple features, and passes instruments.
• Taking tissue cultures or specimen samples from difficult specialized procedures.
• Answering patient's questions during procedures.
• Chaperoning and comforting patients receiving gender specific examinations, including those that received Military Sexual Trauma. He/she possesses knowledge of surgical instruments in this clinical setting such as dilators, tenaculums, kevorkians, loops and balls, forceps and assists doctors with size selections. He/she possesses knowledge of proper handling and pre-cleaning of reusable medical equipment. As the Estates Health Safety and Environmental Protection (HS&EP) Adviser for DBS South, you will have the opportunity to develop the role to deliver all aspects of HS&EP for MoD Abbey Wood North and our presence at Imjin Barracks in Gloucester, as well as providing advice and guidance to other DBS southern sites. The role includes conducting assurance checks known as 1st Line of Defence (1LoD) to ensure our sites are complying with all our legal and MOD HS&EP responsibilities

This is a high-profile role and your duties will encompass:-

Leading and monitoring HS&EP working procedures to ensure compliance, and producing site HS&EP policy and environmental management system. Conducting assurance checks (1LoD), developing post-audit action plans and monitoring progress of achieving goals.
Providing HS&EP advice to staff and visitors, conducting site HS&EP briefings for new staff and contractors. Overseeing maintenance of site first aid facilities, fire equipment, and evacuation equipment. Act as the Medication Safety Officer for the Trust, becoming a clinical expert for medication safety. Provide a highly specialised pharmacy service in the field of medication safety and risk management. Your responsibilities as an Occupational Therapist will include:

• Communicating effectively with a range of clinicians, managers, directors, associate directors, people who access services, carers/supporter/family members, stakeholders and agencies
• Providing compassionate and effective leadership to junior staff including support staff and assistants
• Ensuring the delivery of occupational therapy student placements
• Supporting the completion of appraisals/personal development plans with junior staff
• To be responsible for the development and implementation of appropriate policies, protocols and care pathways

To be a Successful Occupational Therapist you will need:

• Occupational Therapy profession qualification
• HCPC registration
• Relevant post qualification clinical experience with eating disorders who have complex needs
• Extensive experience of applying occupational frames of reference and approaches
• Demonstrates evidence highly effective clinical reasoning skills
• Highly specialist knowledge of relevant assessment and treatment models
• Knowledge of how to work with vulnerable people
