About Your Role

This position provides therapeutic counselling and advocacy to children, young people, and their families when physical abuse, emotional abuse, neglect and / or domestic violence has occurred within the family.

The role of the CPCS clinician is specialised and complex, with the focus of intervention being to maintain the child or young person in their family where possible with the intention to prevent recurrence of abuse, as well as to prevent placement breakdown, and assist families to address the impacts and effects of the abuse and neglect.

Counselling will be the core task of the position, however co-ordination of health service delivery to the child and advocacy for client interests within the child protection response will also be significant responsibilities. CPCS clinicians also provide consultation, support and education and training for health workers on child protection issues and concerns.

Violence, Abuse and Neglect services are provided under the Priority Populations Program (PPP) within the MLHD. These services are integrated and work alongside each other to collaborate with joint projects, training and joint work with clients and families as required.

Privileges include admission, work up, diagnosis, and provision of non-surgical treatment including consultation for patients admitted or in need of care to treat general medical problems, and provide consultative services to patients in the Long-Term Care setting.

The Hematologist/Oncologist is able to evaluate, diagnose, and provide treatment in an outpatient setting or in the form of inpatient consultative services to patients of all ages presenting with illnesses and disorders of the blood and blood-forming tissues and/or malignant tumors. This includes performing and interpreting peripheral blood smears, bone marrow aspirations and biopsy, administration of chemotherapeutic agents and biological response to modifiers through all therapeutic routes, including intrathecal chemotherapy, the management and care of indwelling venous access catheters, plasmapheresis, and therapeutic phlebotomy.

Administrative duties include:

• Active involvement in teaching residents and students, periodically directing Noon Conferences for their didactic training;
• Participation in the educational programs for Acute Care personnel as well as the medical staff;
• Participation in monitoring the quality, safety, and appropriateness of patient care.

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

The Orthotist, Prosthetist or Orthotist/Prosthetist, provide appropriate orthotic and/or prosthetic devices and treatment.

• An examination of the patient and assessment of their individual needs and desires.
• Compliance with the treatment plan.
• Design, component selection, measurement/casting of the patient, fabrication and fitting of the device to the patient.
• Proper documentation of the patient record.
• Continuing care and periodic examination of the patient and the orthotic/prosthetic device to assess fit, function and changing needs of the patient.
• Communicates with patient and/or caregiver about the recommended treatment plan, to involve them in orthotic or prosthetic care; include disclosure of potential risks/benefits.
• Verify patient care by documenting history, ongoing care and follow-up, using established record-keeping techniques.
• Refer patient, if appropriate, to higher level Orthotist and/or Prosthetist for intervention beyond orthotic/prosthetic scope of practice or privileging.
• Consults with higher-level Orthotist and/or Prosthetist to clarify or with physician/referral source to modify, if necessary, the original prescription and/or treatment plan.
• Identify material, design and components to support anticipated outcome.
• Inform patient, family and/or caregiver of the orthotic/prosthetic procedure, possible risks and time involved in the procedure.
• Select appropriate material/techniques to implement treatment plan.
• Provide patient with preparatory care for orthotic/prosthetic treatment.
• Prepare patient for procedure required to initiate treatment plan.
• Consult technical component/material resources as required.
• Prepare delineation/impression/template for modification/fabrication.
• Fabricate/assemble prescribed device by assembling selected materials/components to prepare for fitting and/or delivery.
• Assess device for structural safety and ensure that manufacturers' guidelines have been followed prior to patient fitting/delivery.
• Assess/align orthosis/prosthesis for accuracy in sagittal, transverse and coronal planes to provide maximum function/comfort.
• Provide gait training /functional-use training.
• Ensure that materials, design and components are fit/delivered as prescribed.
• Complete fabrication process after achieving optimal fit of orthosis/prosthesis.
• Educate/counsel patient and/or caregiver about the use and maintenance of the orthosis/prosthesis.
• Reassess orthosis/prosthesis for structural safety prior to patient delivery.
• Document treatment using established record-keeping techniques to verify implementation of treatment plan.
• Solicit subjective feedback from patient and/or caregiver to determine status.
• Assess patient's functional level.

Job Description/Scope of Practice
The incumbent will have knowledge of the processes for Reusable Medical Equipment (RME) as required by this position. The incumbent will be required to maintain current knowledge of the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) which document the processes and procedures for cleaning, disinfection, sterilization and preparation of RME appropriate to this position. The incumbent will be able to demonstrate their ability to utilize an acceptable proficiency in the use of RME appropriate to this position.

This is an advance performance level position in Sterile Processing Service as a Lead Medical Supply Technician (Sterile Processing Technician). In this position, the incumbent will provide sterilization, preparation, supply items and reusable medical equipment decontamination and distribution support for the medical center. The term "supply item" as used in this functional statement refers to disposable and reusable items for patient care including instrumentation (scissors, forceps, retractors, etc.), reusable medical equipment (suction machines infusion pumps, etc.), surgical trays and sets and various other items that could be processed or assembled through the Preparation and Decontamination areas of Sterile Processing Service.

This is a full performance level MST position. The Lead works in support of the Sterile Processing Service (SPS) management team. Distributes and prioritizes workload among employees in accordance with established workflow and/ or job specializations. Assures an even workflow and distribution of the workload. Revises work schedules to meet anticipated and unanticipated changes in the workload. Assigns work to staff based on experience and training needs. Monitors and reports on the status of work. Ensures SOPs and SPS mandates are followed during the performance of workflow. Reviews work in progress or spot checks work not requiring review to ensure completed work meets supervisors' instructions on such things as work sequence, procedures, methods, and deadlines. Duties:

An MT/CLS at this level develops, performs, evaluates, interprets, correlates, and validates the accuracy of laboratory procedures and results. Testing procedures are performed on a variety of biological specimens using manual or automated techniques and require a broad exercise of independent judgment and responsibility with minimal technical supervision. The work performed is in a variety of primary laboratory disciplines, such as reference laboratory, chemistry (including endocrinology and toxicology), urinalysis, coagulation, hematology, immunohematology (blood banking), bacteriology, molecular biology, flow cytometry, genetics, immunology, mycology, parasitology, serology, and virology. • Provides policing services in various environments where each type of jurisdiction (Exclusive, Concurrent and Proprietorial) has different enforcement rules.
• Seeks, detects, seizes, and protects evidence and witnesses at the scene of an incident.
• Detects and intervenes in criminal activity.
• Enforces traffic rules and regulations, including those related to speeding and reckless operation of vehicles while impaired or intoxicated.
• Conducts investigative contacts/stops, exercising search and arrest authority, detaining witnesses, and apprehending suspects.
• Advises individuals of their rights (such as Miranda, Weingarten, Garrity, etc.), and protecting the constitutional and civil rights of persons.
• Intervenes, when necessary, to deescalate situations and determine when and how much force must be applied.
• Conducts prisoner transports to holding facilities and courts as required.
• Executes disaster response and recovery procedures.
• Provides Basic Life Support (BLS) to injured personnel and coordinates additional emergency response when needed.
• Coordinates and directs search, rescue, and recovery for persons at high risk (e.g., missing or wandering patients, minors, etc.), including coordinating with local surrounding police departments to expand the search parameters.
• Investigates incidents and takes steps to mitigate further risk and resolve situations.
