The major duties of the Peer Specialist position include:

- Participate in the service, training consultation, and other professional activities of VA health care services and function as a fully vested member of the multidisciplinary team.

Clinical Responsibilities (70% of the time)

The Program Assistant duties include, but are not limited to:

• Assisting the supervisor of the Travel Section with directing, planning, and administrative coordination of the Beneficiary Travel Program.

The Social Worker duties include, but are not limited to:

• Provides expert clinical and care coordination services to Veterans served by the VA Medical Center's interdisciplinary outpatient mental health clinic utilizing evidence-based interventions for Veterans with a wide range of mental and behavioral health conditions.
• Provides treatment coordination and service delivery for Veterans who require a higher level of mental health specialty care than can be provided in the primary care setting. These services include, but are not limited to, biopsychosocial assessment, walk-in/crisis services, education, provision of self-management resources, consult triage and management, and other clinical tasks as needed for Veterans receiving services in BHIP.
• Coordinates care including serving as an advocate on behalf of the Veterans on BHIP teams to ensure delivery of comprehensive seamless mental health service.
• Participates in program planning and development, advising the supervisor of shifting trends with care coordination needs and caseloads and identifying the need for making recommendations on program procedures and/or policy changes based upon work experiences.
