Joining Customs & Border Protection (CBP) will allow you to utilize your expertise in the field of medical and health programs and are responsible for

Typical duties include:

The Polytrauma/Spasticity RN actively contributes to quality improvement processes and program development as well as, sharing in the development, evaluation and communication of standards and plans of care, and policies and procedures.

Duties may include, but not limited to:

• Serves Veterans of all eras with Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) related rehabilitation needs and facilitates weekly Polytrauma/TBI clinic.
• Monitors and tracks all TBI and polytrauma consults to ensure timely access of care per national mandates.
• Acts as facility RN lead for brain injury questions and education.
• Provides nursing case management and support to brain injured Veterans and their families, completing rehabilitation care plans for active patients, participating in weekly team meetings and communicating nursing needs to the rehabilitation team and participating in monthly national polytrauma and TBI education.
• Serves Veterans with spastic limbs caused by disease and trauma to the central nervous system.
• Duties include managing and scheduling consults, maintaining clinic schedule, ordering and receiving neurotoxin and supplies, preparing consents, setting up minor procedure tray, prepping patients, and assisting the MD.
• Takes the lead role in preparation and coordination of the CARF standards for the tri-annual survey which includes data collection and analysis.
• Data is shared in quarterly reports to CARF committee and RTLC/PRMS leadership.
• Collaboration with staff on the Comprehensive Rehabilitation Unit (CRU), Community Living Center, and PMRS leadership. In particular, the CARF coordinator works closely with the CRU Medical Director in data preparation and interpretation of CARF standards.
• Documentation of standards in preparation for survey, taking lead during the survey process and any follow up or corrective action.

ABOUT THE POSITION

The DAB, through direct delegation from the Secretary issues decisions under more than 60 statutory provisions governing Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) programs. The Chair is responsible for exercising executive direction and leadership over the day-to-day activities and operations of the DAB, a staff division within the Office of the Secretary. In that capacity, the incumbent serves as a key advisor to DHHS leadership on adjudicative activities conducted by DAB Judges, adjudicative trends at the administrative appeals level and manages the Division's operations including strategic planning, assessment of objectives and results, and management of financial and human resources. Additional duties include evaluating the evolving needs of the organization and coordinating budget planning and execution including drafting and submitting written budget requests and justifications to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) and the Congress.

As the Chair, the incumbent also:
Serves as a member of the Board and designates panels of three Board members to adjudicate appeals. Appraises the performance of the Executive Officer/Executive Director of Administration, Board members and senior level officials including the Deputy Board Chair, the Chief Administrative Appeals Judge, the Executive Director of the Medicare Operations Division, the Executive Director for Adjudication, and supervisory attorney advisors who serve as division directors of the DAB's three adjudicatory divisions, the Appellate Division, the Civil Remedies Division and the Medicare Operations Division.

This is not a remote position. Department of Veterans Affairs requires that all Senior Executive Service and Senior Executive Service Equivalent employees report to work at a VA-owned or leased facility five days per bi-weekly pay period.
