The Clinical Engineering Department provides a Medical Equipment Management service for the Kingston Hospital. NHS Foundation Trust.

The post holder will form part of a team maintaining medical equipment across the trust and is required to work within the requirements of the Department of Health regulations, Care Quality Commission Standards, Trust employment policies and the Trust policy for the management of medical devices to a high standard of safety and accountability.

The post holder liaises and works closely with other Healthcare Professionals, manufacturers, representatives, engineers, and other technical staff to provide applications advice, device evaluation, acceptance testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, calibration and maintenance of a diverse range of diagnostic, therapeutic and point of care testing equipment, ensuring it functions correctly, is within calibration limits and safe for patient and staff use.

The post holder may be required to participate in the emergency on-call rota when required.

We are looking for an enthusiastic Band 6 Physiotherapist to join our dynamic Frailty team. The post holder will have good acute and community experience in a variety of acute medical presentations and pathologies, and patients presenting with frailty syndrome. They will work as part of the multidisciplinary team to assess and discharge patients in a timely and appropriate manner with involvement and referrals to our community services. They will meet and greet patients, answer patient queries and liaise on their behalf on issues such as transport and interpreting services. The Clinical Engineering Department is responsible for the provision of comprehensive medical equipment management services to Kingston Hospital and HRCH and this role is responsible for, the management, leadership and coordination of the Medical Devices Training over both organizations. To initiate the implementation of Medical Device training programme to ensure training, competency and accurate records are undertaken within departments. To design, implement, deliver and oversee systems to continually evaluate a competency based medical devices training strategy to meet the requirement of Trust polices, professional requirements, CQC regulatory standards, Risk Management Standards, Clinical Negligence Scheme for Trusts and Health and Safety Legislation. To liaise and work closely with the Medical Device Committee, Nursing Directorate, Risk Management and Procurement departments to facilitate and support effective standardisation of Medical Devices and identify and reduce risks associated with Medical Devices. To support the Education Centre training team with other tasks when required.
