The Denver Public Library (DPL) is a growing urban library system that serves the City & County of Denver. DPL sees more than 4 million visitors every year across its 27 locations, serves Denver’s most vulnerable communities through outreach and mobile services, hosts thousands of programs a year and manages a collection of more than 1.4 million physical and digital materials.

About You
ABOUT THE JOB:
Our ideal candidate has a wide variety of experiences in:
Directing a division within a department or agency in such areas as Accounting, Budget, Assessment, Treasury, Cash Management, Debt, Investments, Real Estate, Internal Control and Compliance, and Risk Management.
Developing annual and multi-year work plans and strategies to meet business needs. Develops and directs the implementation of goals, objectives, policies, procedures, and work standards to ensure success.
Communicating business and work area plans and goals to managers and/or supervisors to secure buy-in. Reviews, approves, and implements recommended changes to plans and leads the development of process and/or operational improvements.
Prioritizing and allocating resources to achieve strategies. Utilizes resources to develop or expand services and/or operation.
Ensuring resources are utilized appropriately and do not exceed the established budget without approval. Creates and administers policies and integrates work group procedures across work areas for consistency.
Resolving sensitive, controversial issues by making decisions that are inclusive of multiple perspectives.
Representing the division/department in meetings with elected and/or appointed officials and other city entities.
Serving as a representative with a variety of public, business, and community organizations. Fosters collaborative relationships to the benefit of the organization.
Developing goals, documents performance, provides performance feedback and formally evaluates the work of the employee; provides reward and recognition for proper and efficient performance.
Assisting staff to achieve performance standards and identifies opportunities for continual improvement to performance standards. Resolves escalated employee or citizen complaints including long-term resolutions in problem areas.
Selecting, training, developing, and evaluating subordinate staff. Making decisions on hiring, terminations, promotions, and disciplinary actions as required.
Developing and monitoring the budget and oversees financial well-being by analyzing cost effectiveness. Directs cost control activities.
Performing other related duties as assigned.
We know your time is valuable. Applicants who meet the following minimum requirements will be considered:
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or a related field.
Five years of experience managing a financial functional or financial operational work group, business unit or area and supervising lower-level supervisors, managers, or professional-level staff in disciplines including accounting, budget, assessment, treasury, cash management, debt, investments, real estate, internal control and compliance, risk management, or a related discipline.
Two (2) years of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of post-high school education.

Although the full salary range for this position is provided, offers depend on qualifications. The City and County of Denver benefit package will be offered.
The schedule will be determined by the needs of the department and may include evening and weekend hours. The HR team office is located at the Central Library in downtown Denver; however, the nature of work is system-wide and often requires weekly on-site meetings at DPL branch locations across the City.
