We are currently recruiting for experienced L6 (CIAG) Qualified Careers Advisers to join our Education Development Trust youth careers team from December 2024 to provide careers advice, guidance and support to individuals and groups of young people at school or college.

Role Type:

We have positions to suit all working preferences; full time, part time, zero-hour, term time, onsite, fixed term & permanent contracts.

Please note that some positions are presently only available, subject to contract.

Key duties:

You will produce tailored careers information, advice, and guidance to meet the needs of young people and support the school in achieving the Gatsby benchmarks. These are face to face, term time only vacancies in schools.

You will have:

Level 4 or 6 qualification in careers guidance (CIAG)
Experience of working with young people preferably in a school or college setting
Thorough knowledge of education, employment, training and personal development opportunities that are available for young people/labour market information.
Provide careers advice and guidance in a one-to-one setting or group workshop/assemblies to support students with their career aspirations.
Arrange career talks and a range of activities for students.
Have the ability to engage with and inspire young people with SEND and disadvantaged as well as with their parents/carers.
Support the Schools or College Careers Leader to implement and enhance the schools programme to contribute towards meetings the Gatsby Benchmarks.
Demonstrate professional commitment to Children's rights, equal opportunities and diversity.
Undertake administration duties to ensure that all delivery evidence is complete and compliant in line with contract and quality standards.
Experience of working with vulnerable groups and those with special educations needs and disabilities (SEND).

Loss Assessor/Claims Technician

• Be the client’s main point of contact throughout their insurance claim following
a severe fire, flood or impact damage at their property.
• Where necessary, arrange emergency works, temporary accommodation and
interim contents payments to the client.
• Meet loss adjusters, building surveyors, building contractors, restoration
companies, forensic investigators and other professionals as necessary in
order to progress the claim on behalf of the client.
• In some claims, where a building surveyor is not appointed, prepare the
building specification to be agreed/negotiated with the loss adjuster.
• In all cases, prepare and validate the contents claim for the client - this means
proving what the contents item cost the client to buy.
• Update the client on a regular basis via telephone, email or face to face
meeting as necessary.
• Negotiate a settlement of the building claim and contents claim with the loss
adjuster to the satisfaction of the client. It is imperative to get the best
settlement for the client!!
• Distribute all monies paid from the claim from client account to relevant parties
in line with FCA requirements.

Necessary attributes for a successful candidate:
• Full driving licence. We carry out work from the north east down to the
midlands and into Cambridge and Gloucester so there is a good amount of
travelling involved.
• Flexibility - shifts can be adjusted accordingly to your schedule - i.e. shifts can
fit around school pick up for candidates with children.

The office is based in Bolton where you will be based but as mentioned above your day will consist of appointments and typically you will spend 3-4 out of 5 days on the road travelling. In some cases you may need to leave the house at 6am to make a 9 am appointment and 12/13 hour days are not unusual.

• Strong negotiation skills - we are expected to get the best possible deal for the
client and this means negotiation with the insurance companies loss adjuster
which is not always an easy task
• Willingness to learn - you must learn how to draw up a building specification for
remedial works following the damage. There are also a lot of technicalities on
insurance policies that insurers will use to try to get out of paying a claim.
We have to have knowledge to know how to argue these points and get the best for our client
• Excellent organisation skills and ability to work under pressure - you will be
handling up to 30 claims at any one time, ranging from £15,000 to £250,000
You must be well organised and be calm under pressure.
• A desire to progress - although loss assessing is a niche market, this is a long
term career prospect which if successful with, you will be rewarded by
excellent pay and benefits.

PAINTING TRADES WORKERS apply paint, varnish, wallpaper and other finishes to protect, maintain and decorate surfaces of buildings, structures and panels.

Duties
Setting up scaffolding and ladders, along with drop sheets to safeguard surrounding areas from paint splatters.
Preparing surfaces by stripping old paint and wallpaper, repairing woodwork, filling holes and cracks, and smoothing and sealing the surfaces.
Selecting and mixing paints to achieve the desired colours by combining pigments, oils, and additives for thinning and drying.
Applying paints, varnishes, and stains using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment.

Performing window repairs and replacing glass in both wooden and metal frames as needed.

The successful candidate will lead our credit control team and collaborate with wider business stakeholders, to ensure all teams are aligned in their objectives to minimise bad debt whilst maximising profit.

Key responsibilities include:

• Implementing strategies to increase successful collections on outstanding debt and improve efficiency in ways of working
• Establishing effective partnerships with customers and internal stakeholders across the business
• Hosting regular debt review meetings with key stakeholders to ensure business leaders have visibility of the debt profile of their area and ensuring a collaborative approach to resolving problematic accounts
• Analysing data and preparing detailed reports on the status of credit and collections, highlighting key metrics and areas of concern

• Managing complex account queries and resolving or escalating problems as they arise

Location: Ideally working from South or West Cornwall or have a willingness to travel into these areas

This is a full-time, fixed term role (up to 8 months from start date of contract)

About the role – Assist – One and All is a Cornwall Council Shared Prosperity Funded employability programme covering Cornwall and the Isle’s of Scilly.

The Key Worker will deliver support to refugees across Cornwall both virtually and face to face; delivery venues will include a variety of Community Hubs, Jobcentre Plus offices, libraries etc. Our participant journey is designed to offer tailored support to the individual, the Key Worker will ensure that the participant is supported to achieve progression.

This role offers the opportunity to work innovatively and flexibly to open up opportunities for refugees who have chosen to settle in Cornwall. Using a diagnostic assessment at the start of the journey the Key Worker will be able to identify the actions required to enable the participant to meet their goals. Linking with employers, training providers and other support services to ensure the participants needs are met.
It would be advantageous if the post holder speaks Ukranian, Pasto, Dari or other suitable languages.
