Finance Administrator - working for a very large facilities management company.

£32,000 pa (PAYE)

This role is a long-term contract role for 14 months.

Main Duties:

• Provide administrative support to the Performance and Account Management Team, with a focus on financial and purchasing functions.
• Assist in preparing and producing detailed reports, requiring concentration and accuracy.
• Analyse financial and operational data to identify areas for efficiency and service improvement.
• Maintain accurate records of financial transactions and purchasing documents.
• Liaise with suppliers, track orders, and handle inquiries related to purchasing.

Essential Requirements:

Job Purpose

I am currently recruiting a Finance Officer to join a local authority on a temporary basis to cover a secondment. This role is ideal for someone with local authority experience, particularly in supporting engineering and town centre regeneration projects. The successful candidate will be part of an 8-person team, working closely with budget holders to manage both revenue and capital budgets effectively.

The Role

The Financial Management team is a centralised finance service within the Resources Directorate using the Business Partnering approach to provide business and financial advice, guidance and expertise across the Council. A recently appointed Assistant Director who is due to commence in early December will lead the team.

You will play a crucial role supporting the transformation of financially sustainable services that will serve our residents to live healthy and independent lives whilst also advocating the continuous improvement journey within Financial Management.

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Finance, the roles will support the Council’s Corporate Finance responsibilities together with Service Directorates. The roles are key members of both the Finance and Service Directorate Leadership Teams bringing influence on all material business decisions, and ensuring the delivery of exceptional financial management and safeguard of public resources. You will be responsible for leading and developing teams to provide consistently high quality financial support and advice.

You will be responsible for leading the delivery of a number of essential responsibilities that include :

• Reporting the Council’s financial position, both revenue and capital, including the Council’s medium-term financial strategy, annual budget and savings programme, treasury management function, the collection fund and completion of the statutory statement of accounts accurately and within required timescales;
• Co-ordination of all revenue and capital monitoring across the business partnering Directorates;
• The development and assimilation of Directorate and Business performance data within financial reporting
• Leading the business partnering function for all corporate related financial activity;
• Evaluating invest to save / service transformation proposals to deliver cost efficiencies, together with the evaluation of future year service delivery models
• The provision of influential input to the decision making process, including objective challenge on strategy and policy development, efficiency and encouraging a culture of continual improvement
• The continuous review, development and implementation of financial systems, policies and procedures
