THE ROLE

The Lead Data Engineer will be working with the relevant project team to lead the development and optimisation of data and analytics architecture, as well as optimising data flow and collection to deliver integrated and quality business information and reporting solutions. 

Reporting to the Head - Data Solutions, key responsibilities for this role include:

• Develop, test, and maintain data and analytics architecture, including databases and large-scale processing systems, for optimal extraction, transformation and upload of data from multiple sources and different technologies. 

• Work with the stakeholders to support their data infrastructure requirements and assist with resolving technical issues.  

• Provide Technical leadership of the implementation of data and/or integration solutions for complex enterprise systems within complex multistakeholder and formalised project delivery environments.

• Deploy models into production using CI/CD pipelines.  

• Reverse and forward engineer data assets.  

• Build data acquisition, ingestion pipeline, and data lake capability. 

• Recommend improvements to data reliability, efficiency, and quality, and provide high quality data assets for enterprise use. 

• Identify, design, and implement process improvement to automate processes, optimise data delivery, and achieve infrastructure efficiency and scalability.  

• Collate, process, transform, and model raw data from multiple sources, and utilise different data sourcing, integration, and modelling techniques.  

• Pilot, demonstrate and evaluate useability of new technologies and systems, 

• Design and update user guides, technical specifications and Process flow documents for all applications and tools.  

• Creation and maintenance of artefacts relating to data models (e.g. DDLs, mapping of data, DMLs, Data Dictionaries, Change Registers etc.) 

• Assisting in the development and continuous improvement of data modelling and principles, processes, and standards 

• Assisting in the implementation of data asset standards, and in the implementation of related data asset governance processes

Business Intelligence and Reporting is responsible for enabling evidence-based decision-making across the University.

There are significant investments being made in developing strategic data assets for the University and its entities, and a critical component of all this work is the definition of the strategic data model (Enterprise Data Model) that describes the data assets required to meet business analytical requirements and this will be used as the basis for all the data engineering work to then build the data assets.

The Lead Data Modeller (Analytics) will lead this work, who will have overall ownership for the definition and development of the strategic Enterprise Data Model as well as oversee all project data modelling activity to ensure alignment with the overall data strategy.

Selection Criteria

• Tertiary qualifications in Data and Analytics, Data Science, Business or Statistics or equivalent knowledge, skills and experience.

• Advanced Knowledge and experience in Snowflake. 

• Highly developed skills to write, test and validate data transformation and ETL routines within DBT, Apache Airflow, Python, Alteryx.

• Data Vault 2 data model implementation experience.

• Dimensional data model implementation experience.

• Demonstrated knowledge of database tools and SQL skills for navigating and troubleshooting these data processes in these platforms. 

• Experience with database, data pipeline and workflow management tools: Snowflake, JIRA, Wiki, DBT Airflow, Python etc. 

• Experience in pipeline scalability, through services such as Kubernetes.

• Experience working in a collaborative environment.

The Facilities Designer for Structural Engineering will join the Architecture and Civil Engineering Section, which includes a team of architects, civil engineers, structural engineers, the Roof Program Manager, the Building Code Program Manager, and the Quality Assurance Program Manager. The Facilities Designer will work as a team member with Architecture and Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Environmental and Energy Engineering to deliver effective and efficient full-range professional engineering services in support of university-wide construction and renovation projects. The Facilities Designer will perform designs with general direction from the Design Lead or assist engineers with larger design projects. This position will provide design support and serve as technical resource for a range of civil and structural systems, including building structures, site utilities/infrastructure, bridges, parking structures, and system assessments. The Facilities Designer will prepare CAD/BIM Drawings in coordination with other disciplines according to CAD/BIM standards and assists with composing studies and reports.  

The Facilities Designer may assist with preparation of the Opinion of Probable Costs and technical specifications, as well as fee estimates for design proposals. The Facilities Designer will organize their own design and drafting efforts to deliver work product within project budgets and schedules and supports design managers during construction. The position requires construction site visits where odors, dust, noise, and/or physical hazards may be present. Other requirements may include climbing ladders, riding in aerial work platforms, working in confined space, and utilizing safety harnesses and other PPE as applicable per OSHA and university requirements.

We Require These Qualifications:

Cornell University is looking for a Major Gift Officer to join the College of Engineering -- the largest engineering program among the Ivies. Our Engineers are solving some of the world’s most important challenges, big and small – from space exploration to climate change to nanomedicine.

Reporting to the Director of Development, the Major Gift Officer is a cornerstone for Cornell Engineering, and has direct access to the faculty, staff, and students whose stories are vital to our work. The Major Gift Officer manages an estimated pool of 80-100 households, with an emphasis on gift capacity of $250k to $3M or more.  They will assist the Director in implementing pipeline growth initiatives, as well as play an integral role in the liaison structure with departments and schools within the College of Engineering. The Major Gift Officer will also serve as a vital partner to university gift officers, leveraging relationships, and sharing expertise on priorities identified by the college’s dean, Lynden Archer.  An ideal candidate is someone who finds fulfillment in working through complex situations requiring consideration of multiple perspectives in the pursuit of building strong, meaningful relationships with faculty and staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify prospective donors, initiate personal contact, and create opportunities for philanthropic engagement with the College of Engineering and Cornell University.

• Create/implement fundraising strategies, connecting prospects and donors to college and department/school priorities by building strong, long-term relationships with alumni, parents, and friends of Cornell.

• Manage an estimated pool size of 80-100 prospect households, comprised of a mixture of unqualified, new and long-term donors, with the goal of securing major gifts.

• Regularly solicit and close gifts of $250,000 or greater, with an emphasis on prospects with seven figure capacity, while simultaneously raising donor sights, encourage annual giving, multi-year commitments, and estate gifts.

• Be conversant on core priorities and product knowledge for the university and the College of Engineering, as well as effectively access more detailed information as needed.

• Collaborate with faculty, staff, administrators, and colleagues in the Division of Alumni Affairs and Development.

• Assist the Director in implementing stewardship initiatives, the liaison structure with departments and schools within the College of Engineering, and other activities as needed.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Description -

This role will be based in Singapore Design Center. As be part of the HP Personal System Global R&D team, this design center will focus on NB/PC products.

The responsibilities will include

• Work with internal cross functional team members including ME, Thermal, RF, ID, and product management to design new products and form factors

• Lead multiple project teams of electrical hardware engineers from outsourced development partners responsible for all stages of mechanical and thermal development for complex products and platforms, including solution design, validation, tooling and testing.

• Manage and expand relationships with internal and outsourced development partners on hardware design and development.

• Review and evaluate designs and project activities for compliance with technology and development guidelines and standards; provides tangible feedback to improve product quality.

• Provide domain-specific expertise and overall electrical engineering leadership and perspective to cross-organization projects, programs, and activities.

• Drive innovation and integration of new technologies into projects and activities in the electrical design organization.

• Manage Project design progress from early engineering design to mass production.

• As corporate SME interprets regulatory standards or guidance relating to reprocessing and translates into local and corporate procedures.

• Establishes global implementation strategy and timelines for new or updated standards.

• Provides detailed analysis of standards and impact on existing technical files.  Partners with sustaining engineers to properly maintain reusable product technical files.

• Proactively monitors literature, standards, industry guidance, trends, and customer reprocessing expectations globally.

• Rapidly assimilates new technology and requirements, evaluates long term organizational needs in reprocessing.

• Monitors and represents Alcon globally on select reprocessing standards committees.

• Collaborates with Marketing, CASs, and HFE's to optimize reprocessing for customers and create global competitive advantage.

• Guides NPI teams globally in developing suitable reprocessing methods, instructions, and requirements.

• Guides engineers during product lifecycle activities relating to reprocessing requirements.

• Provides guidance to reprocessing label development or updates to meet evolving regulatory and customer requirements.

• Provide SME input during regulatory or corporate audits, and regulatory submissions.

• Collaborates with RA/QA and Med Info Teams to develop materials to address customer inquiries.

• Provides SME input for inquiries from customers, regulators, or Alcon staff relating to execution, content, and alternatives to reprocessing instructions.

Major Accountabilities

• Performs corporate level assessments of emerging, newly published, or recently altered standards impacting the reprocessing field.

• Leads critique/evaluation of product design and directions for use with respect to reprocessing objectives. 

• Provides expert technical guidance, maintains local and corporate reprocessing procedures, directs/conducts reprocessing verifications. 

• Works with teams to address reprocessing challenges, design reprocessing methods, and validate methods to support project objectives.

• Develops superior cleaning, disinfection, drying, and sterilization test methods as needed to advance state of the art practices and customer needs.

• Provides QA/RA with summaries or guidance in regulatory submissions, audits, or preparing IFUs.

• Develops in-depth understanding of configuration, application, and engineering of reusable devices, establishes product families and adoption practices.

• Leads efforts to select/approve external labs as strategic partners in developing better reprocessing regimens; develops in house test methods as feasible.

• Collaborates with PSE to ensure technical files are updated as needed to stay compliant to current standards.

• Lead efforts to address customer inquiries, develop FAQ resources with RA/QA or Global Med Info groups.

• Create (or oversee) protocols, coordinate testing, verification reports, needed to support reprocessing instructions.  Identify when reverification is required.

Experience:

10+ years of experience in QSR/EU MDR compliant medical device development including ability to:

• Provide global technical leadership.  Influences effectively in a cross-functional environment (e.g. multi-site, NPI, customer inquiry support)

• Provide SME interpretation of: ISO 11135, ISO 11138-X, ISO 10993-X, ISO 17664-1/-2, ISO 17665-X, ISO 11607-X, ISO 15883-X, EN 13060, EN 285, AAMI ST 79, AAMI TIR 12/30, AAMI ST8, AAMI ST98, ISO 14161, EN 14885, EN ISO 11737-X, FDA Endotoxin and Reprocessing guidelines, RKI Guidance, MHP Central Sterilization supplements.

• Effectively communicate complex concepts in presentations, regulatory submissions, and in technical reports to global audiences.

• Develop reprocessing methods, lead IFU validations, resolve cleaning and sterilization concerns during development.

• Apply detailed knowledge of common microbiological and biochemical laboratory methods (sterility & disinfection testing, protein/TOC/endotoxin assays, etc.)

Key Requirements/Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school+15 yrs; Assoc.+11 yrs; M.S.+4 yrs; PhD+3 yrs) 

• The ability to fluently read, write, understand, and communicate in English.

• 7 Years of Relevant Experience 

• Work hours: M-F, standard
