An opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Senior Data Engineer to join the Business Intelligence team at an exciting time in the department.
We are currently going through a period of evolution where we are re-shaping how information services are delivered within the organisation by improving accessibility of data across the organisation and supporting the expansion of the Trust’s research agenda. The successful candidate will be playing a key role in the review, development & improvement of data management as we strive to deliver a best-in-class BI service.
This role would suit someone with strong attention to detail, keen eye for data modelling, who can meticulously follow specifications and spot even the smallest data anomaly. You may also be a trailblazer who loves experimenting and finding fresh approaches to resolving data problems and establishing new best practice processes.

You will be using your advanced knowledge of data engineering to lead and contribute to transformation projects that will support our strategy of improving availability of data, transforming ETL/ELT processes, and optimising productivity wherever possible. You will also simultaneously provide continuity of service to support the wider BI and research teams and ultimately the performance of the Trust. We are looking for someone with great communication skills, which will be required to engage with colleagues in the BI team and beyond, define comprehensive specifications and structure data in an accessible and clear way. This diverse role will involve working with a wide variety of data sources, creating and maintaining ETL/ELT processes, maintaining data dictionaries, creating data flows, improving existing data structures, and creating complex research data sets.
We are looking for a self-motivated individual who will relish a challenge. Applicants should be able to demonstrate a strong understanding of data warehousing and be able to prioritise their own workload to ensure that deadlines are met and high standards are maintained. Experience of working with SQL Server tools is essential.
