NIE invites suitable applications for the position of Executive, Outreach, Publicity and Planning in the Office of Graduate Studies & Professional Learning (GPL). This is a 2-year contract position.

Responsibilities:

• Support the preparatory work to curate content for local and overseas publications, advertorials, social media platforms, etc.
• Content creation (visuals and videos) for digital marketing, publicity materials and collaterals for GPL.
• Assist in the coordination and planning of local and overseas outreach events and activities.
• Support the maintenance of NIE GPL’s marketing content calendar, including organic and paid campaigns.

The MFL department at Outwood Academy Foxhills is a small and friendly department with 4 members of staff; 2 part time and an Assistant Principal. We offer French and Spanish at KS3 and KS4, with all teachers offering both languages to at least KS3. All Year 7 students study both languages and then pick one or both at the end of Year 7. We hope to grow a cohort of dual linguists to be future A level and University language students - imagine!

Each member of our department has their own room equipped with an interactive whiteboard and visualiser and we share an office with the Humanities department which provides a quiet working space. Members of the department are provided with SOLs and we share planning to support each other. We run enrichments at both KS3 and KS4 after school and have recently subscribed to Languagenut to extend our student's learning at home.

The successful candidate will be able to teach French and Spanish at KS3 and at least one at GCSE level. They will be passionate about all aspects of languages, be a team player, and be able to support the development of students’ cultural capital. As such, candidates applying should hold a degree in Modern Foreign Languages or be able to evidence sufficient expertise in French or Spanish. Additionally, candidates should have achieved or be in the process of achieving a postgraduate teaching qualification.

• Plan group work sessions in conjunction with the Head of Individual Needs
• Investigate and source resources that will support learning support planning
• Participate in departmental meetings and professional development that impacts on student’s learning
• Track the progress of individuals and groups of students and the effectiveness of intervention using intervention monitoring sheets
• Contribute to the departmental development plan
• Contribute to the termly Governor’s review

Communication

• Communicate with colleagues, and parents as appropriate, maintaining confidentiality and working with sensitivity
• Attending and contributing to meetings of a professional nature
• Regular meetings with Head of Individual Needs to monitor and evaluate provision, intervention and practice
• Contribute to providing feedback to students

General

• Maintain the department stationary stocks in all teaching areas and Learning Support Office
• Assist in the management of data, maintaining department registers
• Maintenance of the departments’ photocopying and laminating requirements, together with filing and notice board updates
• Contribute to the development and training of relevant support staff
• Complete the appraisal Target and Review Tracker in line with school policy
• Work in other departments of the school as circumstances require

Pastoral Care

• Always consider students’ welfare and best interests, striving to promote both at all times.
• Develop strong relationships with students, providing guidance and support in academic, pastoral and enrichment matters.
• Liaise with and support colleagues in all matters pertaining to pastoral well-being, responsibility and strategy.
• Follow the school’s policies and procedures with regard to pastoral provision.
• Support students on the Learning Support register in class during special days, events, sports days, concerts, performances and during off site visits, as appropriate
