JOB SUMMARY:

Under general supervision, the Criminal Justice Institute Facilitator-Advanced Training coordinates and instructs Florida Department of Law Enforcement Criminal Justice Advanced and Specialized Training Courses.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Instructs Advanced and Specialized Criminal Justice Programs as prescribed by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the College.
• Organizes, records, and processes required training attendance, certification, and/or training documentation.
• Reviews and administers end-of-course examinations.
• Secures examination materials and student results per FDLE, CJS, and College policies.
• Uses the Scantron Test Scorer to grade Advanced and Specialized Training student examinations.
• Integrates computer software and technology to provide interesting and professional presentations.
• Maintains a safe and effective classroom environment.
• Participates in department, division, and CJI Instructor meetings at least once per year.
• Completes other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be a Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) certified instructor or have a CJSTC 82 Instructor Exemption.
• Minimum of three (3) years’ experience as a certified criminal justice officer or three (3) years’ experience in the high-liability topic of instruction for which certification is sought.
• Must be a public speaker with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Must possess strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Experience with Microsoft Office and Windows based applications.   

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• This position requires an ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, lift, reach up, stoop, and carry items occasionally in excess of twenty-five (25) pounds and be outside in the various elements of weather.  It also requires manual dexterity to operate standard office machines, such as, copier, fax, calculator, telephone, and other equipment as necessary. Keeps current and up-to-date in area(s) of expertise ( i.e. Business leadership, Project Management, Advance Manufacturing, CPR, Logistics). • Recognizes and responds to students from culturally diverse backgrounds.

• Reports any issues or problems to the Program Coordinator.
• Completes all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

• Associate of Science Degree or Industry Certification(s) in discipline(s) and/or five (5) years’ experience in the industry.
• Bachelors or Masters preferred
• Expertise in the area of Business leadership, Project Management, Advance Manufacturing, CPR, Logistics, 

• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills; sound use of judgment; problem-solving skills; and a self-starter with high character and integrity.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This position classifies the physical exertion requirements as sedentary work involving lifting no more than 10 pounds at a time and occasionally lifting or carrying articles like docket files, ledgers, and small tools. Although a sedentary job is defined as one which involves sitting, a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties. JOB SUMMARY: FALL 2024!

Full-time faculty position in the Department of Biological Sciences.  Primary teaching area will be in Anatomy & Physiology, but ability to teach in another area (general biology, microbiology, etc.) is desirable. 

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Duties and responsibilities associated with teaching a minimum of 36 semester hours annually;
• Preparing a syllabus for each lecture and lab course;
• Grading all quizzes, tests, and written assignments; and entering grades in Blackboard gradebook on a timely basis;
• Assigning final grades;
• Developing and maintaining course management and internet shells;
• Instructing assigned classes and laboratories;
• Participating in development of retention and core completion strategies;
• Developing and maintaining course management through college’s Learning Management system;
• Maintaining regularly scheduled office hours to meet with students;
• Cooperating in Department budget preparation and in course planning and development;
• Assisting with Departmental projects and programs, including undergraduate research efforts;
• Serve on at least one College committee/workgroup;
• Developing and/or implementing strategies to support students’ retention, persistence, and program completion.
• Completing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

• Master’s degree required, Ph.D. preferred in Biology or related area.  Must have at least 6-graduate hours of Anatomy and/or Physiology.
• Proven knowledge of and experience in teaching Anatomy & Physiology and either General Biology or Microbiology;
• Research and/or publication useful to classroom instruction is encouraged;
• Excellent communication skills- both oral and written;
• Ability to develop courses and teach in a variety of formats including, but not limited to, live/traditional, online, and hybrid;
• Ability to develop, edit, and teach undergraduate laboratory classes;
• Ability to work with and teach to diverse populations is essential;
• Ability to apply traditional and innovative technologies is essential;

WHAT YOU’LL DO
Supporting site safety initiatives, this role will report directly to the Site Sr. Training Specialist and has a tactical focus on the day-to-day implementation and adherence to the site training process. This role will provide direct on-the job-training instruction, as well as oversight of the safety training processes. In accordance with the site’s Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) guidelines, this role will ensure team members are provided with proper instruction to safely perform job responsibilities as outlined in the training process. This role will partner and align with the overall Technical Training and Safety strategy for the organization. The individual will need to be flexible in their work schedule to accommodate the training needs of a multi-shift operation and should expect to regularly work off-shift hours.
 

• Remain current on EHS Technical Standards and OSHA guidelines to ensure compliance with associated policies.
• Support EHS in monitoring and assessing compliance to technical standards, site / departmental safety rules and OSHA guidelines.
• Remain current on new and/or updated regulations and train new and existing team members on updates as needed.
• Partner with site EHS to determine site / departmental training needs and develop associated training programs.  This includes evaluating compliance regulations and interpreting how they affect the site operation.
• Develop and execute comprehensive training plans to close any identified gaps.   
• Conduct needed train-the-trainer sessions to allow other site employees to assist with safety training as needed.  External certification may be required prior to conducting train-the-trainer sessions.
• Adjust existing training programs for improved delivery and effectivity.
• Deliver and/ or coordinate safety training for team members to include periodic assessments of ongoing skills and demonstrated competency.
• Provide SME insight and support in updates to safety related training materials as periodic reviews occur.
• Responsible for the development of instructional materials.
• Educate new team members on their roles and responsibilities regarding workplace safety.
• Partner with site EHS to ensure implementation and training compliance with site safety training programs.
• Provide input to the Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) for new equipment and equipment upgrades at the site and ensure JHAs are incorporated into the on-the-job training (OJT) process. Partner with site Technical Training Specialists to monitor and track safety related OJT.
• Develop sustainability plan as needed for EHS training.  
• Address team member concerns related to safety training.
• Support EHS in ensuring that the site training processes are followed and adhered to by site personnel in their respective area(s).
• Ensure periodic safety assessments on critical tasks are complete and documented with any action items outlined for gaps.
• Develop and track any needed safety training metrics.
• Ensure compliance with Site, Division, and Corporate Training and EHS policies.  Ensure safety training records remain audit ready.

Key Role: 

Serve as the subject matter expert for developing, delivering, including in-person and online, and maintaining intermediate and advanced curriculum. Provide training to all senior executives and leaders at all levels throughout the organization. Stay current and abreast of market research and changing requirements across the agency and incorporate these updates into curriculum where appropriate. Provide strategic insights to solve challenges and incorporate solutions into the program as part of continuous process improvement. Develop and implement strategies to facilitate internal and external stakeholder engagement and analysis to better understand challenges of supervisors and leaders. Apply expertise in learning technologies and standards of practice and collaborate with key stakeholders to design high-quality and engaging courses that are online and instructor led. Leverage expertise to provide guidance, strategic support, review, and feedback of courses on a regular basis and incorporate updates to the program to ensure its success.

Basic Qualifications:

• 15+ years of experience managing the design, development, delivery, and maintenance of leadership and professional development training for adult learners
• 10+ years of experience in organizational change management and strategy, and implementation and sustainment of change
• 10+ years of experience developing and instructing senior executive leadership and professional development curriculum
• Ability to travel to CONUS and OCONUS locations
• Active TS/SCI clearance; willingness to take a polygraph exam
• Masters degree

What are we looking for?

RISD Continuing Education is in search of an inspired art educator who is interested in supporting the growth of teens as part of our in-person youth program. The ideal candidate has experience in art education and is prepared to guide students with empathy. Applicants should be prepared to teach in person while delivering courses to a diverse group of students from a range of abilities and experiences. We welcome candidates whose teaching experience addresses historically underrepresented communities.

How does this role impact our students?

As a youth programs instructor, you will lead teens toward aspiring career paths while problem-solving through art and design. Our program emphasizes design thinking, communicating, and creating, and students will look to you for guidance while navigating daily prompts and assignments. Each class will serve as an opportunity for your students to develop socially and intellectually; by the end of the course, they will have identified new (or hone in on existing) academic and career goals with your help.

We are the team behind Adobe Liquid Mode which was featured on TIME's Best Invention of 2023 and listed on Fortune's Change the World List! We are looking for someone who will apply AI and machine learning techniques to help Adobe deliver state of the art document experiences to its customers. Partnering with the business units, the candidate will be building various products that address challenging business problems related to document viewing, editing, creation, etc.

By using machine learning techniques, the candidate will work on the research and development of exciting projects such as Document Classification and GenAI capabilities for Documents.

Ideal candidates will have a strong academic background as well as technical skills in machine learning and software development. Familiarity with working with large-scale datasets would be a plus.
