Senior Lecturer in Finance

Bangor Business School are seeking to appoint to a permanent full time Senior Lectureship in Finance on a Teaching & Research track.

We welcome applicants with expertise in any area of finance, but are particularly seeking applicants with expertise in one or more of the following areas: Financial Technology, Data Science in Finance, Financial Crime and Compliance, Islamic Finance, Sustainable and ethical investment and Green finance. Candidates should be, or have the potential to become, outstanding scholars, with evidence of high-quality research in progress and clearly defined plans for the next REF and beyond. The successful candidate will be expected to teach at all levels with some modules drawing on their research interests and expertise, and to contribute to postgraduate supervision.

The successful candidate should possess a PhD (or near completion) in Finance (or a related subject area).

The successful candidate will be expected to develop new modules across the Finance programmes at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. They must have a flexible attitude to teaching and learning, with an ability to contribute to modules in the broader Finance area and to undertake postgraduate supervision.

This is one of a number of posts being advertised by Bangor Business School. The School has ambitious plans for growth with the appointment of Professor Bruce Vanstone as the Head of School. The successful candidate will contribute proactively to Bangor’s ambitions as a sustainable university. They will make a substantial input to the process of equipping students with the knowledge and skills needed to work and live in a way that safeguards environmental, social, economic and cultural well-being.

The ability to communicate through the medium of Welsh is desirable for this role.

The successful candidate will be expected to commence as soon as possible.

This role will be located on campus at Bangor. Through our Dynamic Working framework, there will also be the option to spend some time working remotely (although remaining in the UK) to support work life balance, which will be discussed further with candidates at interview.

Senior Lecturer or Lecturer (Teaching & Research) in Mechanical Engineering

Applications are invited for a permanent Lecturer or Senior Lecturer working in Bangor University’s dynamic and world-leading Nuclear Futures Institute located in the College of Science and Engineering.

We wish to appoint an academic in mechanical engineering (at lecturer or senior lecturer level, depending on experience) who will complement our existing research interests (see www.nubu.nu) and be willing to engage in multi- and interdisciplinary collaborations across the School of Computer Science and Engineering and with our many national and international industry and national lab stakeholders.

Candidates should be educated to PhD standard (or equivalent) in mechanical engineering and have previous experience in industry and/or academia. We particularly encourage those who could contribute to research in one or more of the following: sustainable mechanical design, nuclear engineering, thermal hydraulics, and robotics and dynamic systems. Complementary skills in computational modelling, neutronics/physics modelling and machine learning are also welcomed.
